"With just seven individually styled tents, this is a great bush camp in the quieter Moru area of central Serengeti, ideal for wildlife viewing throughout the year."

OVERVIEW:

Asanja Moru is an exclusive bush camp quietly tucked away amid the rocky islands known as the Moru Kopjes. It is set up inside the Serengeti National Park and provides a fantastic base to witness the Great Migration.

Asanja Moru is owned and run by Asanja Africa, a family business with a portfolio featuring properties in the wildlife-rich Serengeti and Ruaha national parks. Its sister property is Asanja Grumeti. The accommodation is booked on a full-board basis, including all meals, a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, the majority of activities, parking, Wi-Fi, and a laundry service. One bed may be added to each bedroom, incurring a reduced cost for children aged under 12 years.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

The camp can be accessed via road transfer from the nearest airstrip, which is at Seronera. This journey takes about 45 minutes. Asanja Moru is situated in Moru Kopjes, an area characterised by big boulders and black rhino. The campsite has mostly mown grass and acacia trees.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT ASANJA MORU:

Guest accommodation consists of eight tents, including a two-bedroom tent for family use. Each standard tent is Meru in style – an outer layer extends over the tent to provide a private veranda. Every veranda is set with a couple of easy chairs and a small table – it’s a great spot to relax and enjoy views over the Serengeti plains! Inside, there’s a double bed, bedside tables and lighting, and a writing table with chair or stool. At the back of the tent are the en-suite facilities, comprising flush toilet, washbasin with mirror over, and shower, in addition to plenty of hanging space. The family tent benefits from all these features, as well as an extra en-suite bedroom for children.

Asanja Moru’s communal areas are housed in a large tent erected on a wooden deck. One side contains the lounge, which has comfy sofas and chairs around a coffee table, a well-stocked bar with barstools, and amazing views. On the other side, there’s the dining space, offering separate tables and chairs. The camp’s fire-pit is just a short stroll from the mess tent – this is the perfect place to socialise with your fellow guests and swap stories of your time on safari!

ACTIVITIES AT ASANJA MORU:

Asanja Moru provides a great range of activities:

  • Expertly guided game drives

    - Both vehicle and walking safaris are led by highly knowledgeable guides, ensuring fantastic sightings of wildlife! You can even take a day-trip to the Ngorongoro Crater, to observe even more wildlife in a truly spectacular setting.
  • Wildlife spotting

    - Among numerous predator and herbivore highlights here are four of the Big Five – lion, rhino, elephant, and buffalo – plus cheetah, spotted hyena, jackal, wild dog, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, Thomson’s gazelle, eland, and topi. There are plenty of birds to see too, such as Verreaux’s eagle, kori bustard, secretary bird, and the colourful Fischer’s lovebird.
  • Hot air balloon rides

    - You can get a bird’s-eye view over the Serengeti by embarking on a hot air balloon ride at dawn, descending to a champagne breakfast!

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
