Serengeti Simba Lodge

  • Located just outside Tanzania's Serengeti National Park
  • Attractive situation overlooking a river
  • 13 luxurious tented rooms
  • At its best from May to June
When To Visit The Serengeti:

Serengeti Simba Lodge is located just outside the northern Ikoma gate into the Serengeti National Park.

OVERVIEW:
Although this lodge is relatively luxurious and offers fairly good value, we only send clients here from May through to June when the Great Migration passes through.

ACCESS & LOCATION:
Located just outside of the Serengeti National Park, the lodge sits on a hilltop overlooking the Grumeti River, with sweeping views over the plains.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
Simba Lodge consists of 13 luxurious tented rooms with en suite bathrooms, complete with flushing toilet. Outside there is a large deck where guests can sit out. The main area includes a large dining room, bar and swimming pool.

ACTIVITIES:
As a result of the lodge's location outside the park, it has less resident game than camps within. It also suffers from a heavy build-up of traffic as the National Park's workers live nearby. Nevertheless, its location comes into its own from May through to June when the Great Migration comes through. It also has the added bonus that it is able to offer walks as well as night game drives as it is not bound by park rules.

"A good location in the Western corridor but a property we use rarely. Our clients tend to prefer the authenticity on offer in the smaller camps."
