"Faru Faru is nothing short of exceptional. A top-notch safari camp; one of the very best in Africa. Fantastic for the Great Migration from May to July, but superb all year round as an add-on to another Serengeti camp."

OVERVIEW:

Singita Faru Faru Lodge is one of Africa’s finest luxury safari lodges. As it benefits from magnificent river frontage and access to more than 350,000 acres of private Serengeti wilderness, guests can expect outstanding game viewing and no expense spared in the quest to deliver the perfect safari experience. The lodge has beautifully designed accommodations, excellent cuisine paired with fine wines, and world-class service, so it comes as no surprise that availability is often tricky, particularly during the Great Migration months (though game viewing is excellent year-round). Our advice is to book well in advance to avoid disappointment! Accommodation is quoted on a full board basis and includes meals, all drinks (including premium wines, spirits, and liqueurs), game drives, and walking safaris accompanied by an experienced guide, return road transfers between the Sasakwa airstrip and the lodge, and laundry.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

Guests staying at Singita Faru Faru Lodge will typically fly into Sasakwa Airstrip within Grumeti Reserve, where they’re welcomed by a Singita staff member and driven to the lodge. If flying directly, it’s approximately 1 hour from Arusha or 1 hour 15 minutes from Kilimanjaro International Airport.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT SINGITA FARU FARU LODGE:

Guest accommodation at Singita Faru Faru Lodge consists of seven one-bedroom suites, a family suite designed for two adults and two children, and an impressive two-bedroom suite with a private pool. Stylish and contemporary, using subtle, earthy palettes of winter grasses and pink river clay, the suites boast light-flooded, open-plan interiors with oversized windows along the length of one side of the bedroom and views of the Grumeti river’s treeline. All options have air conditioning, overhead fans, a minibar and fridge, a tea/coffee station, a digital safe, a hairdryer, a telescope, and a direct-dial telephone. Front-facing king-sized beds are kitted out with the finest linens underneath dome-shaped mosquito net structures. The integrated sitting areas have idyllic views, and a wooden partition separates each bedrooms from the bathroom/dressing area – this comes complete with hanging storage and shelving units, a wicker basket, deep-soaking freestanding bathtubs with a view, twin basins, an outdoor shower, and a separate toilet cubicle. Each suite also features a shaded outdoor sala with sunloungers. The family suite has a smaller interleading en-suite bedroom, ideal for children, and there’s a large two-bedroom suite with two identically sized bedrooms, a shared living space, and a pool deck with sunloungers and shade.

The indoor/outdoor communal spaces at Singita Faru Faru Lodge combine the signature contemporary style with an appreciation for traditional African crafts. The main lodge contains the dining space, bar, and lounge, all overlooking the waterhole, with a Singita signature ‘bar-deli’ where guests can dine informally al fresco. You’ll also discover the wonderful fire-pit – the focal point for guests to gather and connect over pre-dinner drinks. A range of restorative treatments are offered at the wellness centre, and these can be requested in-suite for extra privacy. There are two swimming pools, one inspired by the Swahili coast, where guests are invited to choose a shaded sunlounger and relax with a drink in between safari activities. The fitness centre is perfect for those wanting to remain active while travelling, and Vinyasa and Yin yoga sessions with trained practitioners are available on request. The Singita Faru Faru Lodge safari boutique and gallery displays a gorgeous range of collectables and quality branded Singita safari wear. Please be aware that Wi-Fi connection can be slow and intermittent and mobile phone signal is very limited.

ACTIVITIES AT SINGITA FARU FARU LODGE:

Singita Faru Faru Lodge offers a range of activities within Singita Grumeti Reserve.

  • Game drives

    – Morning and afternoon game drives take place in state-of-the-art, open-sided safari vehicles, with a maximum of six guests, often extending into the evening to reveal the nocturnal magic of the Serengeti. Singita’s guides are some of the best in the region, and you’re guaranteed a thrilling adventure with something new each day, most likely including sightings of lion, leopard, elephant, cheetah, Maasai giraffe, buffalo, gazelle, and perhaps the occasional bat-eared fox and the rare Colobus monkey.
  • Guided walking safaris

    – Accompanied by an expert field guide, experience the bush up close on a walking safari, where you’ll track animals on foot, observe insects, plant life, and myriad birds, and immerse yourself in the magnificent surrounding landscape. The lodge suggests a minimum age of 16 years for this activity, but participation is at the
    discretion of the field guide.
  • Hot air ballooning

    – In partnership with Serengeti Balloon Safaris, guests can experience the Serengeti at sunrise from an aerial perspective aboard a hot air balloon. Please note that this activity incurs an extra fee and should be booked in advance to guarantee availability.
  • Birdwatching

    – Birdwatchers are in for a treat as there’s a huge variety of species at Singita Serengeti. Look out for the grey kestrel, Meyer’s parrot, grey-crowned crane, African cuckoo, martial eagle, pin-tailed whydah, and various gorgeous sunbirds.
  • Stargazing

    – With minimal light pollution, the views of the star constellations are crystal clear, and it’s well worth taking time while here to observe the magnificent Serengeti night skies.
  • Community visits

    – As Singita is the custodian of more than 350,000 acres of the Serengeti ecosystem, the company’s partnership with the Grumeti Fund is profoundly impactful, carrying out wildlife conservation and community development programs in and around the Singita Grumeti Reserve. Working with residents of the 21 villages bordering Singita Grumeti, issues around education, natural resource management, enterprise development, and water management are addressed. Guests are encouraged to visit these communities to experience the success of these projects first hand.
  • Anti-poaching observation post visit

    – Meet the Singita Grumeti Fund anti-poaching scouts for a glimpse into how they live and work. Gain insight into how they patrol the 350,000-acre private concession, report to the rest of the anti-poaching team, and safeguard the wildlife.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
