Safari Holidays for Couples

The vast majority of properties on our pages cater really well for couples above all other holiday types.

There are a few camps that work best with groups, and there are many with a heavy honeymoon focus, but most are particularly well suited for couples of all ages. It's therefore fairly difficult to suggest specific holidays for couples! However, we are able to keep couples away from family-focused camps, or camps that are very popular with honeymooners, and from that point onwards virtually the whole of Africa is open to your trips. So, instead of drawing your attention to on certain camps, we suggest that you start by deciding which category of couple safari holiday is the best fit for you.

Safari and beach holidays

If you want to go on safari and also travel to the beach, we recommend looking at East Africa. Tanzania is especially good due to the country's diverse range of safari areas and its close proximity to the islands of the Zanzibar Archipelago, home to Africa’s most economical beach lodges. Tanzania caters well for both the first-timer and the safari enthusiast, so there's a safari to suit every kind of holiday maker. The beaches here are also better than on the Kenya Coast. Mozambique’s beaches are worth a look too, but it's worth knowing that prices tend to rocket when linking in this country for your beach stop.

Luxury safari

If you're looking for the most luxurious safari in an authentic atmosphere, the destination for you has to be Botswana – but expect to pay Africa’s highest price tag! This country arguably offers the very best safari on the continent. If you want the luxury yet are not so keen to pay such high prices, then South Africa and its famous Kruger Park may well be an excellent option.

Adventurous safari

For intrepid travellers looking to avoid the crowds, we recommend Zambia. This country is famous for being off the beaten track – here, safari is the focus, rather than the hospitality experience and flamboyant luxury of some camps elsewhere.

Short safari

For a short safari, South Africa and Namibia are the best options. For the most part, safari in both countries is not considered as good as elsewhere (mainly for the lack of true wilderness and authenticity), but the large private game reserves of SA's Kruger and Namibia’s Etosha certainly link in well with city breaks and a whole range of other experiences.
