On the first day of your group trip, you will fly out to Mfuwe for a few days at Nkwali Camp. This classic camp has a wonderful location on the banks of the River Luangwa, within a private reserve. Its communal spaces are housed in an open-sided timber, stone, and thatch structure, and they include a lounge, a library, and a bar. Outside, there is a thatched dining space, as well as a spacious swimming pool! The guest accommodation comprises six bamboo-and-thatch chalets, all with well-appointed en-suite facilities and lovely river views. The chalets are open fronted, so you can relax while watching elephant cross the river and occasional big cats roaming the grounds. Nkwali offers game drives and walking safaris, and you can expect to see more elephant, more big cats, and maybe even wild dog as well as plenty of plains game. There are also 450 bird species! Other activities include taking in a little culture on a village tour, and visiting the local market.
