Days 1–4 TIMBAVATI

leopards, safari to victoria falls, kruger national park

You’ll start the safari by flying into South Africa’s Kruger region and heading to Ngala Safari Lodge. This property is owned and operated by luxury safari company &Beyond. It has a charming location amidst tamboti trees and overlooking the Timbavati’s seasonal river, within the Ngala Reserve. Constructed from timber, stone, and thatch, the communal lodge has a distinct safari feel. Its lounge and dining spaces are stylish and cosy, while the outdoor areas feature a traditional boma for meals and a good-size swimming pool! There’s also a spa, as well as a gym. Activities include morning and afternoon/evening game drives, walking safaris, tracking and rhino notching, and photographic safaris too. There is a lot of wildlife to see in the Ngala Reserve – all Big Five (lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo), plus plenty of other predators and herbivores in addition to over 350 species of bird.

Days 4–7 SABI SANDS

The second portion of your safari sees you spending three nights in the Sabi Sands’ at Kirkman’s Kamp. Kirkman’s is a top pick for travellers in favour of the colonial style. The colonial lodge contains a 1920s-era lounge, library, dining room, and bar. At the back of the main area, there’s a wide deck, where you can relax and look out for passing wildlife. There’s a very inviting rim-flow swimming pool too. Accommodation takes the form of cottages, each offering a comfy bedroom, en-suite full bathroom, and two verandas with breathtaking views. The camp’s activities include vehicle and walking safaris, local community visits, and specialist astrophotography lessons. Among the wildlife highlights of the Sabi Sands are all Big Five, lots of smaller predators and herbivores, and ample birdlife.

Days 7–10 VICTORIA FALLS

safari to victoria falls, south africa

From South Africa, you’ll fly to Livingstone, a town in the south-west of Zambia. Here, you’ll stay at Waterberry Lodge for three nights, where you will of course have time to visit the nearby Victoria Falls and see the impressive curtain of water for yourself. Waterberry Lodge is wonderfully tucked away on the banks of the Zambezi and it is one of the region’s only owner-run properties and as a result gets some of the best client feedback of any camp we sell. The location, approximately 35 minutes' drive from Livingstone town, guarantees a quiet stretch of river for some superb boating safaris! You can spend the next couple of days enjoying the immense number of activities available or simply taking in the riverside atmosphere from the vantage points of the lodge’s swimming pool and sun loungers.
