Your honeymoon begins in Arusha, at Machweo Wellness Retreat. This property has a pleasant hillside location about half an hour from the city centre, and it’s ideal for a stopover before your safari begins. Next, you’ll travel to Ngorongoro Crater Lodge, which is spectacularly positioned on the rim of the crater and is quite possibly the most luxurious lodge in all Tanzania! And finally, you’ll spend four nights at Singita’s Faru Faru Lodge, in the game-rich Grumeti region of the Serengeti.

Day 1 Arusha

On Day 1 of your honeymoon, you’ll fly out to Tanzania and touch down at Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA). From here, you’ll transfer privately by road to Machweo Wellness Retreat. Your accommodation during your stay will be a garden cottage suite. This option features a four-poster bed, mini-bar, full en-suite bathroom with complimentary toiletries, and lovely private balcony. Machweo’s communal facilities include a spa, a swimming pool, and a restaurant. The property is well renowned for its food – Chef-Manager Axel Janssens has worked in Michelin-starred restaurants and creates delicious Belgian/French cuisine! This is one of our favourite properties in Arusha for a relaxing stopover before (or after) a safari.

Days 2-3 NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA

After your night at Machweo, you’ll transfer privately by road to Arusha Airport and fly to Lake Manyara Airport – from here, you’ll transfer via shared road transfer to Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. This property, operated by &Beyond, might just be the most lavish lodge in all Tanzania! Often described as ‘Maasai meets Versailles’, its interiors are a high-camp take on the luxury safari theme. The property is split into three camps, and each camp’s lounge and dining areas are seriously opulent, featuring plush brocade sofas, grand fireplaces, and extravagant chandeliers. You’ll stay in one of the camp’s glamorous suites, enjoying a king-size four-poster bed, a deluxe separate seating area, and a full bathroom with floor-to-ceiling windows onto spectacular crater views! During your two days here, you’ll head out on expertly guided game drives. You can expect to see all Big Five species – lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo. Smaller predators and herbivores abound, including cheetah, hyenas, jackals, serval, caracal, golden cat, wild dog, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, and a fine assortment of antelopes. The birdlife is equally impressive, not least for the crater’s vast flocks of flamingos! Other activities on offer comprise lodge walks, as well as day trips to Olduvai Gorge and the Shifting Sands. Walking safaris in the Empakai Crater are available too.

Days 4-7 SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

The final few days of your honeymoon are spent at Singita’s Faru Faru Lodge, in the wildlife-rich Singita Grumeti Reserves adjacent to the Serengeti. To get here, you’ll travel from Ngorongoro Crater Lodge to Lake Manyara Airport via shared road transfer, fly to Singita’s private airstrip within the Serengeti, and finally enjoy a private transfer to the lodge. Your accommodation will be a luxurious one-bedroom suite, with comfy double bed, contemporary light-wood furnishings, and a bathroom with beautiful views over the reserves! You’ll have access to a lovely private veranda too, where you can sit together and enjoy some glorious sunsets. The property’s communal lounge, dining area, and bar are very elegant – they take inspiration from their natural surroundings, and all overlook a busy waterhole. Faru Faru also offers two swimming pools, one styled as a Swahili sand beach! Activities here include morning and afternoon game drives, walking safaris, community visits, archery, and stargazing. Among the wildlife highlights of the Singita Grumeti Reserves are plenty of big cats, huge herds of elephant and buffalo, numerous smaller predators and herbivores, and plentiful birdlife.

On the final day of your honeymoon, you’ll leave Singita Faru Faru and return to Singita’s private airstrip via shared road transfer. From here, you’ll fly back to KIA, arriving in good time for your flight/s home.
