Decorated in an elegant and contemporary African style, it also boasts the fabulous Azure Restaurant, a luxury spa, and a small private cinema.

2.Babylonstoren kitchen garden, Simonsberg.jpg

Heading out of Cape Town towards the Winelands brings you to Babylonstoren, a boutique hotel situated in the centre of the Winelands ‘golden triangle’ between Paarl, Stellenbosch, and Franschhoek. This fantastic property is actually a fully working wine farm in the traditional Cape Dutch style. It has just 14 beautifully restored cottages set among stunning gardens. At the farm's renowned Babel restaurant, guests are treated to fantastic organic fare, with produce coming directly from the gardens – this follows the hotel's ‘farm to fork’ philosophy.

Departing from the Winelands, we fly to the Timbavati Game Reserve for a three-night stay in one of South Africa’s finest private game reserves. Bordering the western edge of Kruger National Park, the boundary is completely unfenced, allowing for the free movement of game between the park and the reserve – this makes for a phenomenal safari experience.

Tanda Tula is located in the heart of the Timbavati and has views over a seasonal river, the bushveld, and an active waterhole. The lodge has just 12 secluded luxury tents, which offer guests a truly authentic experience, very much reminiscent of the romantic safari of days gone by.
