Echo Beach Hotel Zanzibar

  • Boutique hotel resort in Zanzibar
  • 12 spacious rooms and suites
  • Relaxed atmosphere
  • Swimming pool, spa, dive centre

Echo Beach is owned and run by Andrew and Sue Page, who moved to Zanzibar from France after 14 years running a hotel there. Andrew is a trained chef, so the food at Echo beach is particularly good.

OVERVIEW:
Echo Beach is a rather quirky hotel with extremely good food, a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere and offers very good value. Its gardens are extremely colourful and the ocean views are lovely.

ACCESS & LOCATION:
The hotel is located on the attractive Bwejuu beach on the south-east coast of Zanzibar.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
The guestrooms are in cottages built amongst the coconut palms in five acres of gardens. Most of them have views of the beach. There are five single storey Beach Villas with one room, two double storey Beach Villas with one room downstairs and another upstairs, as well as the larger Beach House, which has two ensuite rooms, making it suitable for families. Two Garden Villas are set further back from the beach. Each room is totally different, however they are all traditionally designed with Zanzibari furniture and makuti thatched roofs, and all have en suite bathrooms and a shady balcony or veranda where guests can sit out and relax.

ACTIVITIES:
There is a large swimming pool where guests can swim or learn how to dive, and a small spa hut where they can be pampered. Excursions can be arranged to visit a spice farm or explore the island, while there is a PADI dive centre for serious divers just ten minutes walk away.

"Echo Beach offers no frills beach living with superb food and excellent hosting. Sue and Andrew have been fine tuning Echo Beach for years; it remains one of the best properties in its price bracket."
