Fundu Lagoon is located on Pemba Island, the lesser-known island of the Zanzibar Archipelago.

This is one of Tanzania’s most famous beach hotels and situated beside some of the world’s top dive sites. A tented beachside resort, Fundu Lagoon has gained an excellent reputation over the years as one of Tanzania’s best adventure beach locations.

Away from the hustle and bustle of Zanzibar and only accessible by boat, Fundu Lagoon is the perfect place for people looking to escape commercial tourism. A PADI 5 Star Gold Palm Resort, Fundu Lagoon has a first-rate dive centre and excellent diving, in addition to offering waterskiing, snorkelling, windsurfing and fishing.

The adventurous side of Fundu is complemented by the very high standards to which the resort itself adheres. The communal areas include a wonderful infinity pool surrounded by natural forest and sea, as well as a jetty with open-air bar. There are another two bars as well as a spa and yoga platform overlooking the ocean. Meals are often served on the beach that runs in front of the entire property.

The best suites are huge private villas with separate lounge areas and small pools. There are then a couple of smaller suites as well as Beachfront and Hillside rooms. All the accommodation options are tented with thatch roofs, with the standard hillside and beachfront rooms having no separate lounge area or pools.

While Fundu’s beach is good, and exclusive to guests, the lodge also has access to MisaliIsland, a fabulous private island, inside a protected marine conservation area, with some of the best beaches in Africa. Daily boat trips go out to Misali.

The main selling points of Fundu are its remote location, diverse range of activities, the lodge’s adventurous feel and the stunning nearby MisaliIsland.

Fundu is only reached by boat after a flight to Pemba Island. Door to door from Dar es Salaam takes approximately two hours.

"If you are looking to avoid the crowds on Zanzibar then Fundu Lagoon may well be the right place for you. Privacey and exclusivity is the selling point of Fundu; one of Tanzabnia's most famous beach properties."
