When To Visit South Luangwa National Park:

As its name suggests, Chichele Presidential Lodge was originally built as a presidential retreat in the 1970s.

The lodge has ten luxury rooms and is solidly built with more of a ranch/estate style than other lodges in the area. The rooms are very comfortable, with all the amenities you could require.

The lodge has a spectacular location on the top of Chichele Hill, looking down on South Luangwa National Park.

The main area consists of a large lounge and bar space. There is also an indoor restaurant area, which is used only if the weather is not ideal for sitting outside. Most meals are taken out in the spacious covered veranda. There is a large swimming pool at the front of the lodge – with its luxurious sun loungers, this is the perfect place to soak up the sun and the view is spectacular.

Chichele is perfect for families, as the accommodation includes two interleading suites and a couple of suites that are able to take in an additional room to make a triple. There is air conditioning, often a blessing in the hotter summer months. All suites lead out onto a private patio with table and comfortable chairs, so you can enjoy the views.

  • Activities include morning and afternoon game drives and walking safaris.
  • There is also a children’s programme.
