OVERVIEW:
Designed by safari architect Neil Rocher, Luangwa Safari House is far from your average safari camp. It is a uniquely designed house made out of stone and thatch. One side of the house is very grand and castle-like, while the other side is totally open and boasts wonderful views to the seasonal lagoon outside.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Luangwa Safari House is set in the Mfuwe area of South Luangwa National Park.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT LUANGWA SAFARI HOUSE:
The front door is massive and opens onto a vast lounge. There are four extremely comfortable suites, decorated in completely different styles – the two on the upper floor have suspended wooden balconies, while the two on the ground floor have private verandas. Outside, there is a small plunge pool, and a terrace from which a raised walkway links to a wooden deck in the middle of the lagoon where guests can sit and watch any passing game.
The house comes with its own butler, chef and guide, so every detail can be planned around the group’s individual requirements – the menu and timing of meals, the schedule for game drives and so on. Guests are totally spoiled!
ACTIVITIES AT LUANGWA SAFARI HOUSE:
- The game viewing is also excellent, especially elephant, as they tend to come to this area for food and drink. Guests can be dining outside on the deck in the dry season and find up to forty elephants around them.
- Day drives, night drives and walking safaris are all available.
*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
