When To Visit South Luangwa National Park:

Kakuli is one of the most northern camps in Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park. It is a classic no-frills bush camp that is one of our favourites in the South Luangwa.

OVERVIEW:
Kakuli is simple but incredibly charming. We have always been massive fans of this camp, as Kakuli is very popular with all ages and all levels of safari experience. The camp seems to get great leopard and is known for the area’s large lion prides.

ACCESS & LOCATION:
Located a small distance downstream from the confluence of the Lubi and Luangwa rivers, Kakuli sits on the banks of the Luangwa itself – it is a wonderful setting for a camp.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
Its four tented chalets have an open-air bathroom and fabulous views of the river, where hippos can often be seen. While sitting in camp, guests can also view game on the open plain, which is just upstream.

ACTIVITIES:
The levels of guiding and service here are set at some of the highest standards in the entire valley, and the simple approach to safari epitomises a Luangwa bush camp. Activities at Kakuli are based primarily around walking safari. However, recent years have seen an increase in both daytime and night-time game drives. The nocturnal life is particularly lively around the river.

Kakuli camp is open from May to early November and from late January until the end of March.
