When To Visit South Luangwa National Park:

Nsolo Bush Camp is an adventurous walking camp that sits directly on the Luwi River in South Luangwa National Park.

Nsolo is in its peak from July through to October. Travelling outside this time is still very productive, offers very good value, and sees the Luangwa’s bush at its most beautiful. Many safari enthusiasts travel in this quieter season.

Nsolo Bush Camp is located on the Luwi River in South Luangwa National Park

The camp’s four spacious rooms are raised up onto wooden decking, and have walls made up of reed and grass. Each room is completely open at the front, giving the camp an adventurous feel. These fronts can be closed if you feel uncomfortable! Each has a private verandah outside, overlooking Luwi River and the surrounding bush.

The game viewing is good, especially cats, as they love to use the dry riverbed. There are several lion prides in the area, and numerous leopard. Elephant and buffalo often come to the waterholes in camp, and wild dog have denned near here for the last few years. We always encourage adventurous travellers to stay at Nsolo, but you should know this is a walking-focused operation. For non-walkers we would recommend Mchenja Bush Camp or Kakuli Bush Camp, where there is a better mix of activities.

The river only runs during the rainy season, when the camp is closed. The dry Luwi is a great place to view game and head off on walks.
