“If you are after exclusivity, privacy and an epic experience, Offbeat Ndoto is the place to go! A great little camp in a great location and amazing service, guiding and game viewing… what else could you ask for?”

OVERVIEW:

Offbeat Ndoto is a small camp completely independent from Offbeat itself. The word Ndoto means ‘dream’ in the Kiswahili language, and it was chosen to convey a sense of hope for the future as the world begins to recover from Covid-19. Offering a more exclusive and luxurious experience than its sister camp, Ndoto is perched on Mundia Hill, about 500 metres downstream from Offbeat Mara. Guests will enjoy excellent views over the Olare Orok river and of the sycamore-fig riverine forest. The accommodation will be booked on a full-board basis and the camp will be open all year.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

Ndoto is situated within the Mara North Conservancy. It will be accessed via flight from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT OFFBEAT NDOTO:

Guest accommodation will consist of just four tents. Each will contain a comfortable double bedroom and a sitting room. There will also be a shower room, with fully plumbed hot and cold running water. And every tent will boast a lovely private veranda, where guests will be able to relax and marvel at beautiful views!

Ndoto’s communal areas will comprise its mess tent and campfire. In the octagonal mess tent, guests will enjoy delicious meals and snacks prepared on site, washed down with refreshing cool drinks. The campfire will be the location for getting to know fellow guests and swapping safari stories! Not far from this area, there’s a grove of sycamore-fig trees, known as ‘the secret island’ and providing a shady venue for relaxing and dining. That’s all the information we have at the moment – we’ll update this section as soon as we know more.

ACTIVITIES AT OFFBEAT NDOTO:

A good range of activities will be offered, as follows:

  • Expertly guided game drives

    - Made up of approximately 30,000 hectares of savanna, woodlands, and water sources, the Mara North Conservancy is home to a real wealth of wildlife. This includes all Big Five (although rhino are fairly rare), as well as ample smaller predators and herbivores, and hundreds of birds! Ndoto’s game drives will take place during early morning and late afternoon. If you stay here any time from July to October, you’ll be encouraged to look out for the huge herds of the Great Migration, as hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, zebra, and antelopes move around the Mara area in search of food.
  • Bush walks

    - This activity will be accompanied by an expert guide. Walks will offer exciting opportunities to check out the smaller lives of the conservancy – its plant, insect, and bird species.
  • Cultural visits

    - Guests will be invited to visit a local village and a market. School visits will be possible too (during term times).
  • Sundowners and bush meals

    - Watching the sun set at the end of an afternoon safari is a very memorable experience. Guests will also enjoy picnics in the shade of Mara North’s ancient sycamore-fig trees.
  • Hot air balloon safaris

    - These safaris launch every morning from Little Governors’ Camp, in the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The drive from Ndoto to the camp takes about an hour, so guests will have a very early start to the day. However, the experience of drifting over the Mara’s sprawling plains and spotting the reserve’s wildlife is not to be missed, especially as it ends with a champagne breakfast.

* This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals will pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
