Kenya’s beaches are a fabulous add-on to a safari holiday in the country, and a dream destination in their own right.
Getting to the Kenyan Coast is very easy after a safari. You can fly either directly from the Maasai Mara or have a short layover in Nairobi before taking an hour’s flight to the coast. Both Diani and Lamu have their own airports, but Watamu and Msambweni are each about an hour’s drive from the airport closest to them.
The Kenyan Coast has long been a getaway for those living busy lives elsewhere in the country, so there are some really large residential areas – this in turn has created a somewhat sleepy and peaceful atmosphere all along the coast. With some excellent activities available here, including snorkelling, fishing, and boat trips, to name a few, this is the place for you to enjoy turquoise waters, great seafood, and blissful days of doing not much!
Located in Eastern Kenya, on the coastline of the Indian Ocean, Lamu is a secluded tropical archipelago.
Watamu and Malindi are two towns about 20km apart on the north coast of Kenya. The area can be reached by road and also via flights from the capital city Nairobi, taking just over an hour in total by air.
Mombasa is a very large city in Kenya, second only to capital city Nairobi. It is situated on the country’s east coast, on Mombasa Island within the Indian Ocean.
