"In the quiet and remote Lemek Conservancy and just 40 minutes from sister lodge Saruni Mara, Saruni Wild is an intimate tented camp - with just three tents it is a great option for a group to take out privately."

Whereas Saruni Mara is a permanent property, Saruni Wild is better suited to travellers who prefer the camping style. It is certainly one of the more adventurous options in the Mara Conservancies! However, for those who like both options, the two combine brilliantly!

Saruni Wild boasts a fabulous location, in the heart of the Maasai Mara plains, on the border between Lemek Conservancy and Mara North Conservancy. There are amazing views across miles upon miles of plains!

The main areas are housed in a central mess tent, furnished simply yet very comfortably indeed. The lounge has well-cushioned cream sofas surrounding a large coffee table for a sociable feel, while the dining area has a long wooden table and chairs for communal meals. Further seating is available on the mess tent’s veranda and also around the fire pit, which is the perfect place for relaxing in the evening and swapping safari stories!

Guest accommodation at Saruni Wild comprises just five canvas tents – four standards and one family unit. All are spacious and comfy, with big beds and snug rugs on the wooden floor. The standard tents contain either a double bed or twin beds, plus bedside tables, storage chest, hanging space, and en-suite facilities consisting of flush toilet, washbasin with mirror, and classic safari shower! The family tent is twice the size of a standard tent, to accommodate up to four adults. All tents have a lovely veranda furnished with director’s chairs – ideal for taking a break and watching the wildlife go by!

As at Saruni Mara, the food-and-drink menu is influenced by the nationality of the camp’s owner, with lots of tasty Italian pasta dishes available! Breakfast may be enjoyed either in camp or out in the bush – both options are high quality, but if you like a cooked breakfast you will tend to favour the former. Lunches are available in or out of camp too – again, both types are superb, but the in-camp version is just that bit heartier! Dinner is served in camp or in the bush weather permitting and consists of three courses at the communal table.

There really is a wealth of wildlife in this area – just the bushscape around camp attracts numerous elephant, buffalo, giraffe and antelope species.

  • Activities from Saruni Wild are focused on game drives, which take place during the day and night in the Mara North Conservancy and neighbouring Lemek Conservancy! Both regions are home to loads of plains animals and two famous lion prides, Acacia and Gorge. There are also over 550 types of bird here! Bush walks are another way to get to know the area, with the Maasai guides keen to introduce you to their world in intricate detail.
  • You can take a hike up Kilelioni too, the loftiest peak in the Mara–Serengeti ecosystem! Additionally, the Maasai are happy to welcome you to their local village, to learn about their way of life. And young guests at Saruni Wild are very well accommodated via the Warriors Academy, which provides animal tracking and bush skills courses. There really is a lot to do here!
  • All guides at Saruni Wild are friendly and knowledgeable – and back at camp, staff are just as attentive and professional in their provision of services. Guests in need of a little pampering and even some shopping are welcome to pop up to Saruni Mara – the Maasai Wellbeing Space offers massages and all sorts of spa treatments!

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
