OVERVIEW:
Yellow Zebra really like Savanna, but the lodge’s proximity to the fence of Sabi Sand Reserve is a bit of a negative in our view. Availability can also be tricky at times, so if you do have your heart set on Savanna then try booking it well in advance.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Savanna is located in the western section of Sabi Sand Reserve and comprises an area of 10,000 hectares of land.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT SAVANNA PRIVATE GAME RESERVE:
There are four luxury suites and three executive suites. All are built under canvas and have solid walls. The bathrooms contain a freestanding bath, in addition to indoor and outdoor showers. They open up onto a private deck area with great views of waterholes and the bush. The executive suites benefit from a comfortable sitting area and private plunge pools on the decks. These rooms are a bit secluded, to give guests more privacy.
The Savanna Suite is a beautiful two-bedroom house. It is connected by a large lounge area, which leads out onto private decking with plunge pools that overlook the watering hole. The suite is built under a thatch roof and has solid walls. It is perfect for families traveling together or couples that are looking for some seclusion.
Children under the age of 8 years are not permitted in the main lodge, but families can take the Savanna Suite and have the whole area to themselves. There is a bushbabies program, which will keep the children busy and learning lots of exciting things about the bush.
ACTIVITIES AT SAVANNA PRIVATE GAME RESERVE:
- Morning and afternoon game drives are available from the lodge, as are walking safaris on request.
- The walking safaris are well worth it, as you get to focus on all the smaller things you tend to miss on the game drives.
- The manicured lawns in front of the lodge lead to the main pool area, which has spectacular views over the floodlit waterhole.
- There is a viewing deck above the lounge area, where guests like to spend their time in between game drives.
*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
