"Newly refurbished, this luxury lodge has a clean contemporary feel and an idyllic location with suites dotted along the Sabi river. The lodge itself is laid out in a manner that creates a range of relaxation and dining areas for guests to enjoy between activities."

OVERVIEW:

There are lovely views of the river from the communal building and guest suites, which are situated in the shade of beautiful ebony trees. Somewhat larger than sister camp Dulini Leadwood Lodge, River has a slightly less intimate feel. However, it is just as stylish, with equally exciting activities and superb service standards!

ACCESS & LOCATION:

Home to all Big Five species, plus loads of other predators and herbivores, Dulini River Lodge is located in the Sabi Sands area and offers excellent sightings.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT DULINI RIVER LODGE:

This is another success for Dulini, together with sister camps Dulini Lodge and Dulini Leadwood Lodge. Each lodge has a different ambiance, but all share that luxury safari feel. All the structures at River have the traditional look that we associate with Dulini – wood, stone, and thatch materials merge effortlessly with the natural surroundings. The property features a lounge, a dining boma, a viewing deck, a safari shop, and a swimming pool. We love the open-plan lounge, which incorporates an elegant dining space. There are well-cushioned sofas and armchairs positioned around wood-and-glass coffee tables, an assortment of books, a cozy fireplace for chilly nights, rather regal chairs around chic dining tables, and various side tables displaying some interesting artifacts. The palette is an intriguing blend of neutrals, browns, rich red, and a touch of monochrome. This area flows through to a deck with additional seating. Guests may take meals in the main lodge building, or on a separate viewing deck, or in River’s dining boma. All areas provide breathtaking vistas over the Sabi River – and we adore the authenticity of the boma, where the warmth of a central fire entices travelers to gather round together and share safari tales! The safari shop stocks both essentials and curios, with half of the profits donated directly to a local community trust. Finally, there is a lovely swimming pool, perfect for cooling off and watching wildlife!

Dulini River Lodge has six guest suites, all connected to the communal buildings via neat paved pathways through well-kept grounds. All are very spacious, featuring colorful soft furnishings mingling with black-and-white wall art. Each contains a sizeable double bed with plenty of pillows and cushions, seating at the foot of the bed, bedside tables, large lamps, a separate seating area, a mini-bar, and a blue-tiled bathroom en suite with flush toilet, washbasin, and bathtub. There is also an outside shower! The suites overlook the river, with a private viewing deck and plunge pool to complete the accommodation.

ACTIVITIES AT DULINI RIVER LODGE:

Activities from River Lodge consist of game drives and bush walks.

  • The drives take place in the early morning as well as late afternoon. Lion, leopard, cheetah, rhino, buffalo, elephant, giraffe, wildebeest, wild dog, zebra, hyena, hippo… there really is a lot to see here!
  • Bush walks are available in the morning and provide excellent opportunities for guests to check out the small things, such as plants and insects, that you tend to miss while traveling in the 4 by 4.
  • Keen birders are in their element, spotting the likes of paradise flycatcher, brownhooded kingfisher, redbilled oxpecker, and a vast variety of raptors.

Do not forget to pack your camera and binocs!

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
