&Beyond Tengile River Lodge looks set to be another first-rate safari property for the company, and within an area containing a real wealth of wildlife! If you would like to stay here, please contact a member of the YZ team. This region is rich in wildlife, and we are very much looking forward to our first visit to Tengile once the property opens its doors on 1st December this year! The name &Beyond is synonymous with luxurious accommodation in some of the world’s most spectacular wilderness areas. Tengile will suit most types of traveller.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
The Sabi Sands area is accessible via scheduled flight from Kruger/Mpumalanga International Airport followed by either light aircraft flight or road transfer to the local airstrip. Tengile River Lodge will occupy the borders of a forest adjacent to a peaceful stretch of river bank – fittingly, the name Tengile means ‘tranquil’.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
Inside, there will be a medley of intimate spaces and open areas for socialising. There will also be a safari shop, a gym, and a spa. We note a fire pit in the artist’s impression, set up close to the river. And there will be a refreshing lap pool, for keeping cool in between activities!
Guest accommodation at Tengile will consist of nine thatched suites, described as delicate and floating. The artist’s impression indicates wooden structures raised fairly high off the ground, incorporating a private deck and a plunge pool. Each suite will include a comfortable bedroom, an elegant sunken lounge, and a bathroom extending into the forest – perhaps an outdoor shower will form part of the accommodation! The lounge area of every unit will be sufficiently spacious to sleep youngsters. Of course all suites will boast beautiful views over the river.
As far as activities are concerned, Tengile will provide morning and evening game drives, interpretive bush walks, and birding. Guests will be encouraged to look out for the famous Big Five – lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo – in addition to spotted hyena, an impressive assortment of antelopes, and hippos! The lodge’s bush walks will provide exciting opportunities to see all the little lives of the Sabi Sands, not least the brilliant birds. This area boasts over 300 species, including specials such as hawk eagle, black-crowned night heron, emerald cuckoo, and Shelley’s francolin.
