On the first day of your trip, you will fly out to Mfuwe for your stay at Nkwali Camp. This property has a fabulous location on the banks of the River Luangwa and within a private reserve. Its communal lounge, library, and bar are housed in an open-sided timber, stone, and thatch building, with amazing views! There is a thatched dining space outside, as well as a spacious swimming pool! You will stay in two of Nkwali’s six en-suite bamboo-and-thatch chalets. The chalets are open fronted, so you can enjoy looking out for wildlife from the comfort of your bed! It is common for guests to spot elephant crossing the river, and if you are lucky you might also see lion, leopard, and wild dog. These species, and more, are spotted in the South Luangwa too, on game drives and walking safaris. The nearest gate into the park can get a bit crowded, but the camp’s pontoon enables you to jump the queues! Nkwali offers boating too, in addition to village tours and visits to the local wildlife education centre.
