Arathusa is a very good value option in what is normally quite an expensive area for going on safari. The standard rooms have great views, but we feel they are a little close together – and while the deluxe rooms provide privacy, you are missing out on the view of the watering hole – so room choice is important here.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Located in the northern sector of Sabi Sand Reserve, the slight downside to the lodge is that it can be busier than the other areas, as you are sharing the land with quite a few other lodges.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
Arathusa’s nine standard thatch-roofed rooms all look out over the waterhole. The rooms are spacious and each has a small veranda where guests can relax and enjoy watching the wildlife coming down to drink. The four luxury rooms are set slightly away from the lodge, to give guests privacy. These are larger rooms and consist of a lounge area, a spacious bathroom with a corner bath, and a front veranda with a private plunge pool. The main area has an open-sided lounge and bar space leading out onto the boma, which overlooks the waterhole. The infinity pool has loungers and looks out into the watering hole.
There is a strong guiding and tracker team at Arathusa, to ensure guests get the best safari experience possible. Sabi Sand Reserve is well known for its abundance of the Big Five all year round. The northern sector is famed for its leopard sightings.
If you are looking for a bit of pampering, Arathusa has a safari spa, offering guests a comprehensive spa menu. There is one treatment room, which can accommodate couples.
