When To Visit Chobe National Park:

A stay on the Chobe Princess is a very special safari experience; guests can watch game on the banks while they cruise along the river.

The Chobe Princess is an upmarket houseboat on the Chobe River that was purchased in 2013 by the owners of the Zambezi Queen. It is smaller and more personal than the Zambezi Queen with only six cabins which can be booked individually or as a group. There are no set departure dates so guests can join the boat whenever there is availability. The recommended length of stay is at least three nights.

The Chobe Princess follows the Chobe River, which is flanked by Botswana on one side and Namibia on the other, and is also close to the Zambian and Zimbabwean borders.

All cabins are tastefully furnished and have ensuite bathrooms with shower, wash basin and flush toilet. There is a comfortable lounge and dining area, a bar and a built-in Jacuzzi.

Each guest or group of guests has their own guide and tender boat so they can choose activities at their own convenience. These can include bird-watching, fishing, game drives and boat cruises in Chobe National Park, mokoro trips, canoeing on Chobe River and day trips to Victoria Falls and Livingstone.

Staying on the Chobe Princesses is a wonderful way to watch game. Chobe National Park is home to one of the largest elephant populations in the world, as well as buffalo, lion, leopard, waterbuck, hippos and crocodiles. Guests can relax on board while enjoying spectacular riverbank views. There is nothing quite like the sight of large numbers of antelope coming down to the river to drink at sunset, crocodiles basking in the sun, or elephants frolicking in the shallows.

"The Chobe Princess is a collection of boats that run on the Chobe River. Aimed to sit just below the top end boats on the river, The Princess does a very good job at good value and opens up a style of safari that’s unique and refreshing. We surprised ourselves with how much we loved it!"
