For a truly magical honeymoon, why not try a Botswana safari?

Botswana Honeymoon Safari Holidays

Botswana is arguably the best safari country, so it comes as no surprise that this is one of the most popular honeymoon destinations in Africa.

The main reasons to honeymoon in Botswana are the country’s wildlife-rich private reserves and the remoteness of its accommodation. Camps and lodges are very small and intimate, often offering private dinners and special drinks out in the bush. The sheer quality of the properties here is also worth a mention. Huge suites with private plunge pools are the norm!

Botswana’s popularity is also boosted by the high standard of safari activities within its national parks. Game viewing throughout the areas we sell is absolutely superb, and the exclusivity of Botswana’s private reserves lends itself to intimate moments away from the crowds. With peak season for game viewing in Botswana being from June through to October, this is the perfect time of year to travel.

Where to go in Botswana on your honeymoon safari

  • Okavango Delta - One of Africa’s most famous wildlife areas. This phenomenal park is an area of outstanding natural beauty that is home to some of the continent's most famous camps and superb concentrations of big game.
  • Chobe National Park - Home to huge concentrations of game. Chobe is most famous for its vast elephant herds, with numbers as high as 80,000 in the dry season.
  • The Linyanti - Split into three private reserves – Linyanti, Selinda and Kwando. Each is slightly different from the other, but together they are without doubt three of Africa’s finest private reserves.

Recommended honeymoon activities in Botswana

Many honeymooners want to end their trip with time on the beach, so it is no surprise that our favourite Botswana honeymoon design includes safari and a good seaside! We suggest starting at Victoria Falls for a couple of nights, to relax after the wedding, before continuing to the country’s best safari parks, with no need for a ridiculously early wake-up call.
You then have the option of travelling to Mozambique, Mauritius, or the Seychelles for beach time. It is not a good idea to head straight to safari after the hectic weeks leading up to a wedding!
Other activities include...

  • Mokoro safaris

  • Canoeing trips

  • Game drives

  • Night drives

  • Walking Safaris

  • Fishing
