Our Safaris

We categorise our types of safari into three budgets: best-value safaris, classic safaris, and luxury safaris.

In our minds, we’ve categorised trips into three types of safaris. The starting point would be a best-value-for-money safari. These are our most economical trips, with a ‘from price’ of approximately £3,500 to £4,500 per person (exclusive of international flights). Our classic safaris push the budget boat out a little, but really are our most popular standard luxury trips. These have a starting price of approximately £6,500 to £7,500 per person. And our luxury bracket sees trips starting at approximately £9,000 per person.

Budget is always a somewhat awkward subject especially if, like many of our clients, you are unsure about how much safaris actually cost. As we are a luxury safari company, that is our primary focus – all of our safaris would be classified as luxury, whether that is an authentic yet luxurious adventure to Zambia and Zimbabwe, or the über-luxury of Botswana and South Africa.

We’ve gone into great detail below about the different types of safaris we offer, and we highly recommend you take a quick look at our sample itineraries. However, please be aware that all of our safaris are tailor-made, meaning we design trips especially suited to you.

The best way to find out which safari type is best suited to your needs is to contact our experts here today, or by giving us a ring on +44 (0)20 8547 2305.

Classic Safaris

Our ‘classic’ safaris are the most popular safaris we sell. Clients who favour this type of trip find either that our ’value’ safaris tend to be too adventurous, or simply that the lodges we use in the value category are not quite luxurious enough! The classic price bracket is where we start offering some of the industry’s most-experienced and best-established safari camps and lodges.

How much do our classic safaris cost?

These safaris start at approximately £6,500 to £7,500 per person. They tend to include some superb 5-star camps and lodges – properties where standards of guiding, food, and service are set very high! This is where we use genuinely luxurious properties that are run by some of our most impressive partners.

What are the properties like and what experience can I expect?

Our classic Africa safaris are seriously good safaris. The price you pay at this level ensures terrific trips and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. The properties themselves are more than comfortable, featuring large beds, excellent en-suite facilities, and a real focus on the hospitality experience as much as the quality of the safari itself! The price bracket guarantees a significant increase in luxury levels over our value safaris, while the guiding standards are better too. High standards of accommodation and guiding combine to create a product that is backed up by our use of Africa’s most-experienced and best-run safari companies.

Classic Tanzania safari – This safari includes Tanzania’s main highlights: the wildlife-rich volcanic caldera of Ngorongoro and the Serengeti, to witness the wildebeest Great Migration! The trip finishes with a few days on Zanzibar to relax.

Classic South Africa safari – Here’s one of our most classic and popular safaris to Cape Town, the Winelands, and the Sabi Sands on the border of the Kruger National Park. This is a rare safari, due to the inclusion of both a world-class city and an area like the Winelands!

Classic Kenya Safari– Focusing on the Maasai Mara and the conservation-strong Lewa region, this is a fantastic trip to the home of safari itself! We include a lengthy stay in the Maasai Mara, featuring both the Reserve and the private conservancies.

Classic Vic Falls & Botswana safari – This safari includes Victoria Falls as well as two of Botswana’s most famous private reserves! The trip starts at Victoria Falls, continuing to the spectacular Linyanti region and the Okavango Delta.

Luxury Safaris

Our ‘luxury’ price bracket includes some of the most expensive safaris we sell. Needless to say, these trips are first class! They use some of the best properties in Africa and guarantee exceptionally high levels of comfort, guiding, food, and service.

How much do our luxury African safaris cost?

Our luxury safaris start at approximately £9,000 per person… with some going up significantly higher than that! With our luxury safaris, it's not just the accommodation that needs to be considered, but also the mode of transport. When you are travelling between camps, light aircraft transfers are an option – and this choice of transport will certainly enhance your experience by affording spectacular views of the wilderness areas! And, of course, travel by air significantly reduces time spent on the road. On another level, the convenience and efficiency of chartering your own private jet – scheduled to depart at the exact time that suits you for arrival at your next National Park – must be the epitome of luxury! This method of travel will allow you to cover more ground in less time, while, most importantly, giving you the freedom to encounter the very best of Africa.

If you prefer a more exclusive and personal safari experience, then paying a supplement for a guaranteed private game drive will enable you to have more of an influence on where you explore as well as increased flexibility. You do not have to reach a compromise with other guests on where to go, what to look for, and how long to spend at each sighting. If you have a particular photography or wildlife interest, we can match you with an experienced specialist driver/guide to ensure your requirements are met. Additionally, there are often no age limits for a private guided safari, making this an awesome option for families! It is worth noting that there are a few camps, such as the Serian properties in the Serengeti and in the Maasai Mara, where a private vehicle is offered as part of the standard package.

What are the properties like and what experience can I expect?

Of course the majority of camps, lodges, and hotels at this price tag are all 5 star and are some of the best properties in Africa. The experiences these properties offer, from the food and service to the sheer quality of your accommodation, is as good as you will find anywhere on the continent! Unless you are staying at an adventurous tented camp, you will find that the properties we use tend to have swimming pools, various locations for meals, and accommodation standards to rival any boutique hotel in London or New York.

One of the biggest differences between our classic and luxury categories is the space that you have in your own room! Many classic properties, albeit superb, have rooms that are little more than places for sleeping. At the luxury level, balconies, terraces, and private plunge pools come as standard, allowing guests to relax privately in the heat of the day.

The guiding standards in properties like this deserve their own special mention. The companies running properties at this price level are sending their guides on extensive training courses – for the guides themselves, this is a big plus point. The resulting levels of guiding are obviously some of the very best!

Luxury South Africa safari The properties we use are three of the very best in South Africa. While in Cape Town, you will stay at The Silo. One of the Mother City’s newest properties, this hotel is built in the grain elevator of an historic silo! Your next stop is La Residence Franschhoek in The Winelands, which occupies a gorgeous 30-acre olive-and-wine estate. Lastly, your safari time is spent at Singita Boulders Lodge. This property is situated in its own reserve and offers phenomenally good game viewing! All three properties provide very high levels of service and hospitality, with all the small touches that are synonymous with ultimate luxury.

Luxury Botswana & Victoria Falls safari Your journey begins at Tongabezi, a lavish hideaway located 20 kilometres upstream from Vic Falls. After a couple of nights here, you’ll travel to the Linyanti Reserve, specifically to Savuti Camp. This is a wonderful safari camp on the banks of the Savuti Channel and within a private concession. Next up, you’ll stay at Little Vumbura Camp, a YZ favorite that’s situated on a private island within the Vumbura Concession in the Okavango Delta. The final property of the trip is another island camp, this time Chitabe, which is found within a private concession in the Delta’s south-eastern region.

Luxury Zambia safari In this luxury Victoria Falls and Zambia Highlights itinerary, we combine some of the best camps in the country to create a perfect blend of authenticity and luxury. Our Victoria Falls and Zambia luxury itinerary offers a step up in terms of luxury from our classic itinerary. This trip starts with the magnificent Victoria Falls, then moves into the South Luangwa for a split between two camps before finishing off with what we believe is one of the best camps in Africa.

Luxury Rwanda safari – This luxury safari to Rwanda has incredible highlights of trekking to see the mountain gorillas and staying in some of the greatest accommodation on offer. It starts with one night at Kigali, followed by a Big 5 game-viewing experience in Magashi, and ends with two hikes in the ancient forests in Volcanoes National Park, to spot the mountain gorillas.

Value Safaris

Rhino game drives in Laikipia, Kenya safaris

Our ‘value’ safaris include some of the most interesting adventures that we sell. The camps are affordable, great value for money, and have been cherry-picked to give our clients an experience that is reflective of our brand. We are as proud of our value safaris as we are of our most expensive trips!

How much do our value safaris cost?

Our value safaris start at approximately £3,500 to £4,500 per person. This price is based on a +/- ten-night trip, usually with six nights on safari and four days on the beach or in a city (Zanzibar or Cape Town, for example). The key point to remember here is that the more time you spend on safari (as opposed to in a city or on the beach), the more expensive your trip becomes, simply due to the sheer cost of a night on safari. Combining your safari with a few days on the beach or in a city is the best way to keep prices down.

What are the properties like and what experience can I expect?

The value camps we use for these safaris are often more adventurous than they are luxurious. The focus is the adventure of the experience rather than the luxury on offer within our classic and luxury safari categories, which are more expensive. However, it is worth mentioning that we also use a number of 3- and 4-star lodges. The aim, after all, is to offer an adventurous style of trip to those who want it, and a more ‘secure’ version to those who prefer a higher level of comfort on safari!

Of course, for all the properties in our value category, both the game viewing and character in camp are first class. We take pride in our value safaris – whether they use 3- and 4-star lodges or adventurous tented camps, they are as likely to be that holiday of a lifetime for you as any other safari we sell!

Best-Value Kenya Safari This great-value safari starts in the Mara Naboisho Conservancy, where you’ll enjoy first-class wildlife viewing. After that, you’ll head to Diani Beach, for wet-and-wild watersports or just some laidback beach time!

Best-Value Botswana Safari This trip focuses on the Zimbabwean side of ‘The Falls’ as well as Chobe National Park and the Okavango Delta. The safari is designed for the first-time traveler to the region and offers excellent value for money.

Best-Value South Africa Safari Cape Town, the Winelands, and Big Five viewing in the Timbavati on the edge of the Kruger National Park combine to make this couple safari one of the best trips we sell to South Africa! It offers outstanding value for money too.

Best-Value Zimbabwe Safari – Is this the best-value couple's safari in Africa? Victoria Falls, Hwange, and Matusadona are three of Zimbabwe's major highlights. Offering unbelievably good value for a safari of this duration, this trip stakes its claim as our best value trip.

So why choose a Yellow Zebra type of safari?

Our brand represents good safaris – these are trips that we know can deliver that wow-factor of an experience! We don’t offer the cheapest safaris on the market, and not for a moment would we wish to do this. You will find safaris online at lower prices. All we can say is that we are very good value for the trips we offer – we even give a price guarantee on any trip we sell! – and that our safaris are designed by people with experience of working in Africa, as guides or camp managers.

Africa’s cheap lodges and bargain-basement safari offers are low for a reason – you get what you pay for here! We don’t use mass-market safari hotels or design basic camping trips. As a result, our safaris are authentic, expertly designed adventures that we are proud to sell as part of our brand.

Our specialists are genuine experts, people who have guided these safaris and worked in the camps. There is no better way to start planning your trip than speaking to our specialists about how we can fine-tune your safari.

And as you’ve had a look through these trips, the best thing you can do now is to contact us directly here.
