Mbuzi Mawe is comfortable, good-value, and has a great location, but does not offer the same authentic safari experience to be found in many other tented camps.

OVERVIEW:
Although this camp has an excellent location and is good value for money, we feel that a number of tented camp specialists offer a much more authentic safari experience. As a result, we rarely send our clients here; however, if clients do wish to come, it is best booked as part of a Serena Hotel circuit to get lower rates.

ACCESS & LOCATION:
Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp is situated in the Lobo area of the Serengeti on one of the main corridors of the Great Migration. It is part of the Serena Hotel Group, which caters for the upper-middle market packaged safaris. It is smaller and slightly more upmarket the most of their camps.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
The main area is a large canvas and stone building, which contains reception, a stylish boutique and a lounge and dining area. A wide terrace gives spectacular views across the Serengeti. The 16 guestrooms are in large Meru tents with stone foundations. Each has a four-poster bed, and en suite bathroom and a shady veranda.

ACTIVITIES:
The game-viewing is good throughout the year, but even better during the Great Migration.

"Owned by the Serena Hotel chain we rarely use this camp due to the quality of other tented options in the park. A good location though, just lacking in authenticity."
