"The only problem with this property is the sheer quality of its competition. The Mara area has superb mobiles and my own opinion is that Lemala and Nasikia stand out in this price bracket... so I rarely use this camp."

OVERVIEW:

With a price that is a lot more affordable than other options in the area, this camp offers great value and is suitable for anyone who wants an authentic safari experience on a budget.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

Located in the north of the famous Serengeti.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT MARA UNDER CANVAS TENTED CAMP:

Part of Tanganyika Wilderness Camp’s portfolio, the ten-room property occupies a prime location for travelers keen to focus on the sight of the Great Migration crossing the Mara River. The eco-friendly rooms are spacious, with king-sized beds and generous en-suite facilities including a bucket shower and a flush toilet. The camp has a separate lounge tent and dining tent where guests can relax during rest periods between game drives.

ACTIVITIES AT MARA UNDER CANVAS TENTED CAMP:

  • Mara Under Canvas really peaks from July through to November, when the Great Migration is in full swing.
  • Guests can watch over a million wildebeest and zebra migrate into the area.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
