With an amazing setting, wonderfully warm and responsive staff, good food and an exquisite location for game viewing, Lamai Serengeti is one of the parks' top camp.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Just 45 minutes’ drive from Kogatende airstrip in the far north of the park, Serengeti Lamai has one of the best locations in the park. Built on top of a rock kopje, the views from this camp are absolutely outstanding.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
With 12 rooms, Lamai Serengeti is a relatively large camp compared to other high-end camps, but this masks the fact that the camp is spilt into two camps – one of which can be hired for private use.
Each room has uninterrupted views out over the plains as far as the eye can see. With open fronts, outdoor decking areas, four-poster beds and lovely ensuites, the rooms at Lamai Serengeti are very high quality yet maintain that adventurous safari feel we love about camps. The main camp area is spacious and comes with a good-sized pool.
Activities are focused on game driving during daylight hours. Walking safaris can also be arranged. There are no other activities permitted in this part of the park. Guiding and general standards of service are set very high – this is without doubt one of the finest Serengeti camps.
The Great Migration moves through the area as early as July, with river crossings on the nearby Mara River until the middle of November. For the remainder of the year, this area is wonderfully quiet with few camps and few vehicles – it becomes a great place to escape the Migration-searching crowds.
