OVERVIEW:
Galton House really is ideal for relaxing before or after your safari and taking in all the spectacular sights of Namibia’s capital city. Highly recommended by YZ!
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Windhoek is Namibia’s central hub for transportation in and out of the country, as well as a brilliant base from which to explore the surrounding regions. As Galton House is just 10 minutes from the city centre, it is close to loads of amenities, restaurants, bars, and of course the colourful street vendors!
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT GALTON HOUSE:
The entrance to Galton House is through a secure remote-controlled gate. A cobbled parking area welcomes you to a building like no other in this quiet neighbourhood! The communal areas comprise a mixture of spaces where you can relax and unwind. The House’s décor and artwork reflects the local traditions and culture, with slate floors, cream interiors, and stunning photographic artworks of Namibia. The curio shop supplies a great mix of gifts and mementos, while the lounge is a lovely place to read or chat with your fellow explorers. An open-plan dining room completes the interior, light and airy due to large glass doors. These doors lead guests outside to a small covered dining area and a courtyard with a water feature providing a pleasant environment for dining in the cool evenings. An upper terrace can be reached via steps from the courtyard – here you will find a swimming pool, with lots of sunloungers and umbrellas for shade!
Galton House offers eight elegantly decorated bedrooms, each of which opens out onto the courtyard, with easy access to the swimming pool. There is nothing better than strolling straight out for a morning swim – you can get from bed to water in seconds! The décor and artwork in the bedrooms echoes the communal areas, with splashes of colour enlivening the walls. Each room has en-suite facilities featuring a shower, but these differ slightly in size. There is a satellite television in every room, plus a writing desk and chair, free Wi-Fi, a telephone, a hairdryer, a safe – and that all-important air conditioning to keep you cool at night!
