Jecca's biography
Jecca was born into a family of animal lovers. Her journey from the UK countryside to the wilderness of Kenya, was fuelled by a lifelong passion for nature and wildlife. Driven by a thirst for adventure, Jecca took the chance to visit Kenya over two decades ago, where she instantly fell in love with the diverse landscapes and magnificent wildlife of this beautiful country.
It was after university when she first got her chance to live in Kenya before starting work. This really allowed her to delve deeper into the heart of the country and gain invaluable insights into Kenya’s rich cultural heritage and conservation efforts. She spent her time living and working on a farm, immersing herself into the African community, whilst also taking unforgettable safari trips exploring Kenya’s national parks and conservancies.
Jecca has extended family living across Kenya. Her extensive experience traversing the vast savannas, tracking elusive wildlife, and navigating the lush forests, has given her indispensable knowledge of the country as a whole. Her passion for Kenya, however, reaches beyond the thrill of safari, as over the years she has spent time on both Lewa and Borana conservancies learning about the incredible work carried out here and the importance of conservation and wildlife protection.
During her most recent time living in Kenya, Jecca worked for a company who ran horse-riding safaris up Mount Kenya, an area that is very close to her heart. On top of this, she volunteered for the Mount Kenya Trust, where she was able to help with supporting local communities and preserving the delicate balance of Kenya’s ecosystems. This has given her a deeper appreciation of the part that tourism plays, and so she strives to create safari experiences that showcase not only Africa’s natural wonders, but also the importance of conservation and wildlife protection.
Although Kenya is her second home, Jecca has been lucky enough to broaden her love of Africa across the continent, as she has visited both Tanzania and South Africa a number of times. With two decades of exploration under her belt, Jecca hopes to extend her expertise and insight into creating meaningful travel experiences for fellow adventurers, where every moment is filled with discovering the magic of Africa.
Jecca is now back and settled in the UK, and she has joined the Yellow Zebra team to continue her passion in African tourism.
