Mauritius Couples Holidays

Tall palm trees swaying in a gentle breeze… powdery white sands feeling so soft underfoot… warm waters of the Indian Ocean sparkling in the sunshine… this island enchants all who visit and it is the perfect place to enjoy a little romance!

If you are travelling to Mauritius as a couple, there are four properties that we recommend especially for you.

Shangri-La Le Touessrok Resort & Spa is our first choice. This super-luxurious property is situated on the east coast and aims to provide nothing short of a utopian experience! We can confirm, it is pretty heavenly here. Occupying not only a long stretch of coastline but also two islands, Shangri-La is constructed from timber and thatch and merges seamlessly with the natural beauty all around. It is a resort on a grand scale, with five restaurants, two swimming pools, shops, a spa, and much much more – including 200 room, suites, and villas! Nevertheless, it is possible to avoid the crowds here. If you book one of the private island suites, you will have ample time to yourselves. The accommodation is stylish and comfortable, with all the mod cons you could desire. Loads of watersports and land sports are available, or you can simply find a quiet spot to sunbathe together, in one of the most beautiful locations in the world.

We are also very keen on Constance Le Prince Maurice, on the north-east coast of the island. With a total of 89 suites, this hotel is significantly smaller than Shangri-La, but it is no less sumptuous! Named after Prince Maurice van Nassau, the property does have a regal feel. Timber-and-thatch structures are positioned quite formally alongside rows of palm trees and well-kept lawns. Communal facilities include three restaurants, three bars, two pools, a gym, a spa. All interiors are very well appointed, with a touch of princely opulence in their furnishings! You can choose to stay on the coastline, amidst the tropical gardens, or overlooking a fish reserve. We would recommend the fish reserve, as this is the most secluded location. As at Shangri-La, there is a full menu of sports activities, or you can just enjoy some together time!

Another YZ favourite is Le Saint Géran, which is situated on its own private peninsula on the east coast. This deluxe hotel derives its name from a ship that features in a romantic novel by Bernardin de Saint-Pierre. On one side of the property is the shimmering Indian Ocean; on the other is a sheltered lagoon. There is an excellent selection of eateries, as well as a beauty centre. This is another fairly large offering, but the guest accommodation features a lovely private tropical garden where you can relax away from the crowds. Constructed from timber and thatch, all buildings have a laidback beach vibe. Inside, the style is chic contemporary, with a warm palette of reddish hues. Lots of watersports and land sports are available here too – and the hotel boasts a seriously good golf course, which may be of interest to some!

Finally, there is The St Regis Resort, positioned on the south-west coast. The majestic mountain of Le Morne Brabant looms in the background and the resort itself is not without grandeur! Resembling a sugar-baron’s manor house and estate, St Regis is fairly unique in its design. However, the interiors are surprisingly fresh and modern, with a neutral palette and clean lines. There are great bars and restaurants, in addition to a fitness centre, pool, and spa. The guest accommodation is laid out as a series of crescents within the estate. We suggest booking a room or suite with an ocean view! All options are very comfortable, with air conditioning, 40-inch LED TV plus DVD player, and even a complimentary butler service. Activities include watersports, land sports, and taking a hike up Le Morne Brabant – the views are breathtaking!

Do get in touch with a member of our team if any of these properties sounds good for your romantic getaway. We look forward to hearing from you!
