Days 1-2 Tarangire National Park

On Day 1 of your group trip, you will fly out to Tanzania and transfer by road to Tarangire National Park. Here, you will stay at Kuro. The property has a beautiful setting amidst trees on the banks of the Tarangire river. Its lounge and dining areas, housed in an open-sided timber-and-thatch lodge, are stylish and spacious, and boast amazing views out into the park! The guest accommodation comprises just six safari tents, all comfortably furnished and including eco-toilet and bucket shower. Activities from Kuro focus on viewing the wildlife of Tarangire on day and night game drives in addition to walking safaris. There is plenty to see in the park – large lion prides, enormous elephant herds, vast concentrations of plains game, and over 550 bird species!

Days 3-4 Ngorongoro Crater

On the third day of your holiday, you will fly to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, to stay at Entamanu. One of the region’s newest properties, this camp has superb views both down into the Crater and north-west as far as the Serengeti, Olduvai Gorge, and even the Gol Mountains! Entamanu has been built with the aim of minimising disruption to the landscape, and its main areas are found in a simple mess tent. Accommodation for guests consists of six wooden bungalows, which are also fairly simple yet with ample creature comforts such as a gas-powered stove. Activities on offer include Big Five game drives in the Crater, guided walks up on the highlands around the Crater rim, and interactions with the local Maasai. This Ngorongoro newbie is a bit of a favourite at YZ!

Days 5-7 The Serengeti

The adventure continues with a flight to the Serengeti on Day 5, for your stay at Lamai. Run by first-rate safari company Nomad Tanzania, this property is set on an immense rock kopje and boasts probably the most spectacular views in the park! All communal areas are very well appointed, and Lamai’s swimming pool is perfect for chilling out in the heat of the day. Guest accommodation is constructed from canvas, plaster, and natural poles, for a classic safari feel. Each tent has an outdoor decking area, which is ideal for relaxing with a drink and gazing across the plains! As far as activities are concerned, Lamai offers game drives and walking safaris. The wildebeest Great Migration storms through the Serengeti from July until November, and there is a wealth of wildlife to view throughout the year – big cats and other predators, numerous herbivores, and hundreds of birds! Guiding is exceptionally good here.

Days 8-11 Zanzibar

For the final part of your trip, you will fly to the idyllic island of Zanzibar! Here you will stay at Baraza Resort & Spa. This property has been voted the island’s best hotel, and it is situated on the quieter south-east coast. Amenities include a wonderful range of restaurants and a super spa! Your group will occupy three Garden View Two Bedroom villas, a very luxurious option featuring walk-in dressing room, glamorous en-suite bathroom, mini-bar area with tea- and coffee-making facilities, private terrace, and private plunge pool. Baraza provides an excellent assortment of activities! From its Water Club, both low-tide and high-tide pursuits are possible – biking, snorkelling, sailing, windsurfing, and more! Diving is available at the nearby Rising Sun Dive Centre, for both beginners and professionals alike. A variety of tours and excursions around the island is possible too, all arranged by the friendly team at Baraza. Some members of your group might like to get up at the crack of dawn for forest and bird walks! And of course you can while away your time simply relaxing on the beach and taking a dip in Zanzibar’s crystal-clear turquoise waters.
