Zimbabwe in June

June

Due to exceptionally good wildlife viewing throughout the month, June is a popular time to travel to Zim’s safari areas – and it’s one of the best times to visit Victoria Falls too.

What's the weather going to be like in Zimbabwe in June?

  • Long dry days with clear blue skies are guaranteed
  • It’s the beginning of winter, the dry season
  • There are cooler temperatures during the day, and nights can be very cold
  • It’s cool enough for us to recommend warm winter clothing for morning game drives in open vehicles, as well as snug nightwear

What are the highlights of visiting Zimbabwe in June?

  • It’s a great time to travel, just before the parks get busy
  • Canoeing in Mana Pools is at its best, with cool temperatures and lots of wildlife gathering along the banks
  • Generally game viewing improves due to the lack of water lying around with the opportunity of seeing numerous wildlife species.
    • Matobo Hills for rhino tracking, Hwange for elephant, and Matusadona for crocodiles bathing on the river banks.
  • Camelthorn pods ripen, attracting large herds of elephant bulls
  • June is fantastic for travellers to Victoria Falls – water levels are still high after rainy season, but the spray doesn’t obstruct your views
  • Misty mornings on the plains make for amazing photo opportunities, and photographers can also experiment with taking pictures from sunken hides

Any lowlights?

  • June is a popular time to travel to Zimbabwe, so properties can book up quickly
  • Prices in some camps start to increase
  • Nights are very cold – many lodges provide hot water bottles in the beds
