ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT LE QUARTIER FRANÇAIS:
Guest accommodation consists of 14 rooms, 11 suites, and a three-bedroom villa. All rooms and suites occupy pleasant structures within the hotel’s grounds, and they’re beautifully decorated. Raffia headboards, luxurious fabrics, vibrant palettes… these are the norm here! Rooms come in two categories – Auberge and Grande. Each Auberge Room (40m²) contains a double bed, bedside tables and lighting, a spacious seating area complete with cozy fireplace, and amazing views of the gardens or the mountains. En-suite facilities comprise flush toilet, washbasin/s, walk-in shower, and bathtub. The Grande Room is slightly larger (50m²) and with under-floor heating in the bathroom! Suites range from the Petite Garden Suite (45m², with private garden views) to the House Suite and Pool Suite, which are both 80m² and with a private walled garden. Recommended for families, the Pool Suite also offers a second bedroom and a secluded pool! The Four Quarters Suite (110m²) boasts a private courtyard, separate lounge, walk-in dressing room, and sofa bed for children. Finally, there’s the LQF Villa, located close to the main street. At a staggering 468m², it benefits from three bedrooms, deluxe living spaces, and its own pool. Please contact a member of YZ to find out more.
It also has a comfortable library and a private cinema where you can enjoy a little quiet time. Guests enjoy access to gym and spa facilities at Leeu Estates. And the garden at LQF, complete with swimming pool, is the perfect place to relax in between outings into Franschhoek and farther afield.
Guests can tuck into delicious meals at the in-house restaurants Protégé and Epice. Epice is the latest venture from the team behind La Colombe, La Petite Colombe, Foxcroft and Protégé, and is set to delight diners with hints of spice throughout the menu. It features a flavor-packed menu inspired by the team’s culinary expedition to India, as well as memories of travels through Spain, Japan, Mexico, Denmark and the US. LQF is also is just a short stroll from numerous other restaurants in Franschhoek town.
ACTIVITIES AT LE QUARTIER FRANÇAIS:
Here’s a selection of things to see and do during your stay at LQF:
-
Dining
– Franschhoek is home to a number of frankly world-class restaurants and cafés, many just a short stroll from the hotel. LQF also houses two fabulous fine-dining restaurants Protégé and Epice. -
Art galleries
– Featuring the work of both local and South African artists, Franschhoek has really established itself as an art destination. A couple of our favorites are Galleria Gibello for wildlife photography and Art in the Yard for impressive new talent. -
Museums
– The town has a fascinating history, and it’s particularly well presented at the Huguenot Memorial exhibition. -
Shops
– It’s easy to while away an afternoon browsing Franschhoek’s lovely boutiques, in search for self-gifts and souvenirs! -
Biking and hiking
– See as much of the Franschhoek region as you wish from the saddle, or set out on foot along many of the area’s hiking trails. -
Fishing
– Head out to the Wemmers river, for trout fishing amidst spectacular scenery! -
Golf
– The Winelands boasts an outstanding variety of courses, not least in Pearl Valley, which has hosted the South African Golf Championship for the past three years in a row. -
Visit local wine estates
– If you have time, you could consider taking in other estates. In addition to Leeu Estate, there’s Chamonix, Grande Provence, and Rupert & Rothschild.
