The Seychelles is well worth considering if you are thinking of taking some serious me time! With its wonderful white-sand beaches and laidback living style, this Indian Ocean archipelago well deserves the description of a little pocket of paradise.
In total, the Seychelles comprises approximately 115 islands. These include the inner islands of Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue, as well as the outer islands, such as Denis, Desroches, and Bird. Both properties recommended by us for solo travellers are situated on the inner islands, but if you are interested in exploring the outer islands we are happy to arrange an exhilarating island-hopping itinerary for you!
Our top properties for solos also have in common, that they are run by Constance Hotels and Resorts. This company provides luxurious accommodation as standard, together with superb service, and some exciting activities featuring plenty of watersports. And if relaxing on the beach is all you wish to do, you can certainly do it here, on quite possibly the most beautiful beaches in the world!
The first property recommendation is Constance Ephelia, located on the Seychelles’ largest island, Mahé. Specifically, it is on the northwestern coast and consists of over 120 hectares of tropical gardens and two beaches. This is one of the archipelago’s most sprawling resorts – Ephelia’s main facilities are split between two sites and guests travel between sites by buggy! There are five restaurants, five bars, five shops, a spa village, a fully equipped gym, a sports centre, and five pools.
Ephelia’s guest accommodation is available in eight categories, ranging from relatively modest garden view rooms to the super-sumptuous Presidential Villa! We reckon that a garden view room has everything you need for a comfortable stay, but we are not going to stop you splashing out on something pricier! For example, junior suites are positioned just a short walk from the beach and come with their own sunbathing terrace. All options have air conditioning, LCD TV and DVD player, Mac Mini, complimentary Wi-Fi, and mini bar, so they provide a great base for chilling out between activities. At Ephelia you can windsurf, kayak, climb aboard a pedalo, and sail a catamaran free of charge, and dive, scuba dive, and fish the deep seas at extra cost. If you love your landsports, you will enjoy tennis and squash on the resort’s own courts. Alternatively, hire a bike and check out all the sights of Mahé, or, if you are feeling particularly adventurous, take a trip to some of the other islands!
One island certainly worth visiting, is Praslin, another inner island, just 44km north-east of Mahé. This is the setting for our second top property for solos, Constance Lémuria. Occupying no fewer than three beaches, plus gorgeous gardens and rolling hills, Lémuria is just as impressive as sister property Ephelia – and with the added bonus of boasting the Seychelles’ only golf course! Other communal facilities include five restaurants, four bars, a VIP lounge, a shop, a spa, a gym, and a fabulous split-level pool.
Lots of other sports are available here – tennis on the resort’s two floodlit courts, in addition to watersports such as windsurfing, snorkelling, kayaking, and body boarding for free. Pay a little extra, and you can enjoy scuba diving and deep-sea fishing too. Praslin has plenty to offer the traveller who likes to take in a little culture on holiday, for example its museum, galleries, and the Vallée de Mai nature park. You can hire a bike and tour the whole island! And whenever you feel like taking a break, your accommodation provides all the creature comforts you could desire. Lémuria’s junior suites are truly sumptuous and just 15 metres from the shoreline! They include air conditioning, tea- and coffee-making facilities, satellite TV, Mac Mini, complimentary Wi-Fi, a safe, a telephone with answering machine, a hairdryer, and 24-hour room service.
If either of these properties appeals for your ultimate beach break, just give us a call – and together we can start to plan a very happy holiday!
