On the first day of your trip, you will fly out to the South Luangwa, to Kakuli Bush Camp. This is one of the northernmost properties in the park, and very pleasantly set on the banks of the river. A communal lounge and dining area is housed in a reed-and-thatch structure, with gorgeous views over the site’s grazing lawn to the rushing waters below. You will stay in one of just four tented chalets, from which you can also enjoy river views! The interiors feature a comfy bedroom with separate seating area, ample storage space, and an en-suite open-air bathroom. Activities available from Kakuli include day and night game drives, and walking safaris. Wildlife highlights in this part of the national park include lion, leopard, elephant, impala, hippo, baboon, and hundreds of types of bird!

Board basis and activities:
Full-board accommodation, including all meals, a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, two guided safaris daily, airport transfers, inter-camp transfers, and a laundry service.

On Day 4, you will transfer by road to Luwi Bush Camp, in the central part of South Luangwa’s national park. This property is situated close to the Luwi river, in the shade of immense mahogany trees! The communal spaces are spread out at the foot of the trees. They include a comfy seating area, a dining area, and a library and bar under a thatch roof. At a short distance from the main site, there is a hide, where you can watch out for wildlife within one of the lagoons that surround the camp. Crocs and hippos are particularly prevalent! Guest accommodation at Luwi Bush Camp consists of just four grass-and-thatch chalets. Also positioned within the mahogany grove, these have a very rustic feel! However, the interiors are comfortable and the en-suite facilities are pleasantly spacious, with flush toilet, washbasin, and shower with hot and cold running water. In common with Kakuli, the camp offers game drives and walking safaris, but there is a firm emphasis on walks in this adventurous setting! You can expect to encounter big cats, some rare antelope species, plenty of birds, and more besides.
