Malawi in July

July

July is a dry-season month, featuring hardly any rain and numerous opportunities to explore Lake Malawi on diving, snorkelling, and kayaking excursions.

What's the weather going to be like in Malawi in July?

  • Days are hot but not humid, while nights are relatively cool
  • July is in the middle of the dry season, with hardly any rain
  • Temperatures are at their most comfortable all year
  • We recommend packing plenty of layers for warm days and cool evenings.

What are the highlights of visiting Malawi in July?

  • All of the lake lodges are open
  • Diving, snorkelling, kayaking… if you enjoy watersports, this is a great time to be by the lake – and it’s super for sunbathing too
  • There are hardly any mosquitoes to avoid
  • If you’re interested in a bush-and-beach break, July is perfect for combining a lake holiday with a Zambia safari, the latter featuring clear skies, fantastic wildlife sightings (especially big cats!), and some of the best walking safaris.

Any lowlights?

  • This is one of the most expensive months to visit Malawi
  • The enticing conditions attract a lot of other travellers, which won’t appeal to anyone seeking complete solitude by the lake (try April/May, perhaps).
