Although it has recently been upgraded, with a classic tent camp design replacing the original dome tents, the camp has not lost any of the adventurous atmosphere which made it such a hit with clients. We believe this little camp just seems to get it right in all the right places! It appeals particularly to the adventurous.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Wolwedans Dunes Camp is located in the Namibrand Nature Reserve in southwest Namibia. Guests should not confuse this area with the huge dune fields at nearby Sossusvlei – it is far more sophisticated, subtle, and overall it gives a substantially quieter experience. Trips to Sossusvlei are not included in the rate and usually not encouraged – it is over a two-hour bumpy ride each way!
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
The camp has only six rooms and is located right on top of a large dune. The tents are all raised up onto decking, increasing the great views. It is a simple tented camp but one that comes with ensuites, and has the high levels of service found throughout the collection's other camps, Dune Lodge and Boulders. We have always been huge fans of the Wolwedans portfolio of camps. This award-winning collection is home to three camps at different levels of luxury, each with their own unique style. Dune camp is the most economical and simple camp of the three.
Activities at Wolwedans are based around exploring the private reserve by vehicle and also on foot. The area also offers the best game driving in the region, though even this area is not comparable to the likes of Etosha.
