This lodge is located on the eastern boundary of the Namib Nakluft National Park, and is aimed at the top end of the market for visitors to Sossusvlei. It is one of the most luxurious lodges in the area.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Sossusvlei Desert lodge is approximately one hour's drive from Namibia’s famous Sossusvlei sand dunes. A remote location compared to other camps in the region but one that services the area very well.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
It has recently been refurbished and restored to its former glory. The main areas are spacious and the open fires are wonderfully cosy in the cold months. The lodge even has an observatory with resident astronomers, enabling guests to study the southern skies.
The ten stone and glass suites are spread out on the edge of an escarpment with spectacular views across the desert plain. The bedroom and sitting area is split level and beautifully decorated in natural colours. A starlight over the bed enables guests to gaze at the stars above. There is even a fire to warm guests on cold desert nights.
Activities here are focussed around the Sossusvlei dunes, however the lodge offers a number of other activities, including quad biking, horse riding, walking and driving. We particularly recommend taking a hot-air balloon ride over the dunes – the views are amazing!
