Namibia Solo Safaris

The majority of our trips for solo travelers to Namibia are fly-in safaris, however, it is possible to self-drive. Where possible, we encourage solo travelers to spend a little extra and fly to the country’s most remote lodges.

Fly-in

Wilderness Serra Cafema on the northern border with Angola is truly exceptional, a destination that very few travelers get to see. Although it is expensive to fly this far, the rewards are endless. We also highly recommend the Schoemans’ Skeleton Coast Safaris. Sossusvlei, Etosha and Damaraland, there are a number of camps that fit the bill for the solo traveler – namely Kulala Desert Lodge or Sossusvlei Desert Lodge in Sossusvlei, Damaraland Camp or Desert Rhino Camp in Damaraland and finally Ongava Lodge or Ongava Tented Camp in Etosha.

We have chosen these particular camps for solo travelers, as they have relatively low single supplements and they encourage communal dining.

Self-drive

It is possible to self-drive around Namibia, as not only is the country safe, but it also has a very good network of roads linking the main attractions. However, a huge proportion of Namibia is cut off from self-drive travelers due to the vast sheets of sand covering the country, and it is these remote areas that we believe are the finest parts. Although we can arrange self-drive trips if clients wish, we think the fly-in option is much better for solo travelers, especially as we consider it is the best way to see the country properly.

Set departures for single travelers

We also offer a number of set departures for single travelers. These set departures are run by some of the best operators in the country and take in the highlights of Namibia. They are usually small-group safari, with group numbers from 6–12 travelers. They are an excellent way to explore the country by road as a solo traveler – please contact us for further details.
