ACTIVITIES AT TUMAREN CAMP:
Tumaren offers an exciting assortment of activities.
- Camel-supported walking safaris start out from camp every morning, with guests choosing to spend half a day or a full day out in the bush. Safarists are accompanied by a guide, a tracker, and the camels themselves, who carry a selection of refreshments and may be prevailed upon to provide a ride at any stage of the trek. There is lots to see along the way. Predators include lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, caracal, serval, jackals, wildcat, and wild dog, while the herbivore count features elephant, giraffe, zebra, and oodles of antelopes!
- Guests can look out for a couple of endangered species too – Grevy’s zebra and Highland hartebeest. Birds in residence include ostrich, white-bellied go-away bird, red-fronted warbler, straw-tailed whydah, and many more besides!
- Game drives are also available, as are trips to the scenic Ewaso Nyiro river for a picnic lunch. You can even check out the local market! Sundowners are popular too.
*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
