Elephant Pepper has a somewhat simple design that succeeds in giving the camp a very authentic feel, a focus on being a home away from home. The location out of the Mara itself, in the Mara North, means there is a high level of exclusivity and diverse range of activities on offer. Overall, a great little camp!
ACCESS & LOCATION:
It is positioned in a small patch of forest on the plains themselves. This is a wonderful location in the Greater Mara.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
Everyone eats together here, surrounded by comfy sofas and views out over the plains. Elephant Pepper is a wonderful simple camp, retaining that air of authenticity so many Mara camps miss.
The camp boasts nine tents, with one specifically for honeymooners. Each tent includes a desk, luggage rack and bedside tables, and beds that come in both double and twin sizes. Each tent has its own en-suite bathroom, which includes a toilet, shower and sink. The camp has very recently been refurbished and has installed running water, providing extra comfort for guests. That may sound like a small thing, but the step up from bucket showers to full plumbing shows this camp’s class!
The honeymoon tent is very similar to the standard rooms, but it is slightly larger, boasting a sitting room that could be turned into a second bedroom for children. It is located farther away from the other tents, and has its own garden area with a campfire.
Activities at Elephant Pepper mainly revolve around game drives as well as short walking safaris and village trips to the local communities. The food is also great, with breakfast served as a picnic on your morning game drive.
