"Sitting on a ridge with magnificent views across the Naboisho Conservancy, this mid-range lodge offers an affordable safari and has an excellent reputation for responsible tourism."

OVERVIEW:

Originally a facility for training guides at the neighboring Koiyaki Guiding School, the site was purchased by Basecamp in 2009 and to this day the company continues to provide financial support to the school from Eagle View’s earnings. The camp is eco-friendly and has won several awards.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

Basecamp Eagle View has a fabulous location on the high ridge of a hilltop within the Mara Naboisho Conservancy.

?ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:

The communal facilities at Eagle View include two tents, each essentially a deck with a canvas roof. Both are comfortable and stylish. The lounge tent contains well-cushioned sofas around a coffee table and a few artifacts too. The palette is rich red and earth tones, a warm and elegant combination. The dining tent has chic separate tables flanked by classic director’s chairs – both tents not only boast amazing views of the savanna below but also overlook a busy waterhole that is popular with elephants! A further viewing deck makes the most of the camp’s lofty position, while the open-air fire-pit is ideal for enjoying morning beverages or evening sundowners and swapping safari stories!

Eagle View’s guest accommodation comprises nine Double Viewpoint tents, connected to the communal tents by sandy paths along the hillside. All guest tents are raised on platforms – and the views each provides from its private deck are absolutely breathtaking! Inside, each has a double bed or twin beds, bedside tables, and a seating area with a table and a couple of chairs. The en-suite facilities consist of flush toilet, twin washbasins, inside shower – and outside safari shower as well! Two of the tents have a separate annex containing two additional beds and further en-suite facilities – these are perfect for families with older children. And all tents come with free Wi-Fi!

ACTIVITIES:

The activities on offer from Eagle View are game drives and community visits.

  • Drives are possible by day and by night, with a wealth of wildlife to experience in the Mara Naboisho Conservancy. The sprawling savanna and wooded valleys are home to all Big Five animals in addition to such species as cheetah, wild dog, hyena, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, antelope, and more besides!
  • Keen birders will love spotting the likes of ostrich, vultures, eagles, and the splendid secretary bird.
  • Guests are also invited to visit the Koiyaki Guiding School, to learn all about the process of becoming qualified as a guide here. This is a really interesting activity – well worth fitting in to your itinerary!

*Although Eagle View offers walking safaris, these are operated without firearms and take place in big game areas. So we don't recommend our clients go on these safari walks.

**This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
