"Stunning rooms and incredibly high standards of accommodation, service, and guiding see Cottar's as one of Kenya's best private villas. A wonderfully quiet game-viewing area; an attraction in itself!"

OVERVIEW:

Cottar’s Bush Villa is sister property to Cottar’s 1920's Camp. A private option, it provides accommodation for a preferred maximum of 12 guests, although slightly larger groups may be accepted. The villa has received numerous awards and accolades since its opening in 2014, not least Africa’s Leading Luxury Private Villa at the World Travel Awards! The camp is booked on an exclusive-use basis only, The villa is open all year round.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

The villa is accessed via 10 minutes’ road transfer from Cottar’s private airstrip and via Keekorok Airstrip (for those not chartering in). It’s situated on a hillside within the Olderikesi Conservancy, in the south-eastern region of the Maasai Mara.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT COTTAR’S BUSH VILLA:

The two-floor villa contains five bedrooms, each individually styled. Furnishings include a double bed (4 rooms) or twin beds (1 room), bedside tables and lighting, a separate seating area, and ample storage space. The upper-level Cream Room can accommodate one extra bed, and two beds can be added to the ground-floor Twin Room. All bedrooms have an en-suite washroom, typically offering flush toilet, twin washbasins, and shower, although Twin Room also has a bathtub. And the majority of rooms have a lovely private veranda, where you can relax and enjoy amazing views over the conservancy! Access for disabled travelers is available on request.

Cottar’s Bush Villa has two living rooms – one upstairs and one on the lower level. Both are characterized by comfortable seating, at least one coffee table, and some attractive wall artwork. The downstairs lounge has a separate area with a widescreen television. The villa’s dining room adjoins the lower lounge space, and the food here is just as high quality as at the elegant Cottar’s Camp nearby! Guests can also enjoy snacks and meals on the villa’s viewing deck, all the while marveling at views over the Olderikesi Conservancy. You can keep fit in the property’s gym, and even swim a few lengths in the 25 meters swimming pool, located just a short distance away.

ACTIVITIES AT COTTAR’S BUSH VILLA:

Here’s a selection of activities available at Cottar's Bush Villa;

  • Expertly guided game drives

    - The Olderikesi Conservancy covers almost 11,000 hectares of savanna, woodlands, and water sources. Vehicle safaris are ideal for exploring vast swathes of the area while looking out for the local wildlife! You can expect to see all Big Five – lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo – in addition to numerous smaller predators and herbivores. There are also over 450 types of bird! And if you visit during the months from July to October, you’ll likely spot the huge herds of the Great Migration, moving around the Maasai Mara region in their search for food.
  • Night drives

    - This activity is also enjoyed in the presence of your knowledgeable and experienced guide. Nocturnal expeditions into the conservancy provide exciting opportunities to sight leopard, civet, genet, and more!
  • Bush walks

    - The hills around the villa are great for guided treks. As well as offering spectacular views over Olderikesi and beyond, they’re home to the majestic Verreaux’s eagle.
  • Cultural experiences

    - Why not get to know the local people during your stay? Cottar’s offers running with the Maasai, attending Maasai warrior school, and visiting a homestead to find out all about the Maasai ways of life.
  • River swimming and fishing

    - There really is nothing so nice as messing about on the river. Have a swim or try a little fishing – it’s a lovely laidback way to spend a morning or afternoon!
  • Hot air balloon safaris

    - This activity is highly recommended for anyone interested in getting a bird’s-eye view of the Maasai Mara. You’ll start up at dawn, enjoying spectacular sights of the region and all its wildlife before descending to a lavish champagne breakfast!

WHAT IS INCLUDED?

The price of your stay includes all meals, a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks, all activities apart from hot air balloon safaris, transfers between the villa and the local airstrip, and a laundry service. And throughout your stay, you’ll be well looked after by the villa’s housekeeper, chef, sous-chef, waiter, and two askaris.
