"The busy location in the north of Tarangire takes something away from Mawe Ninga. It's a shame as this is a lovely camp."

OVERVIEW:

Mawe Ninga aims at providing an authentic small lodge experience at a mid-level price. It is run by the local Maasai and is relatively cheap. However, we find it a bit basic so prefer to send clients who are looking for this price bracket to Tarangire Balloon Camp, as we believe that it offers a higher level of service and conventional comforts.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

Located in the West of Tarangire National Park, Mawe Ninga Tented Camp sits on a ridge overlooking the soda lake of Lake Burungi, with Lake Manyara far in the background.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT MAWENINGA CAMP:

The lodge is quite modest, with 12 canvas tents raised on wooden decks. They are divided into a bedroom and a bathroom/dressing room area. They are very simple with log beds, a coat stand, lamps, a small canvas shower and chemical toilet.

ACTIVITIES AT MAWENINGA CAMP:

  • Mawe Ninga Tented Camp is well-situated for exploring the central and southern more remote areas of the park and game drives make the most of Tarangire's wildlife.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
