All chalets have a thatched roof and canvas walls, with wood-framed retractable doors functioning as the portals to every sumptuous room. The rooms are cool and calm, with a lot of space available. Twin beds, some hanging space, and a sleeper couch for smaller guests (for young families) complete the pleasant interior furnishings. Every room has an en-suite bathroom, featuring a stone bathtub. You can soak in the bubbles and wash away all of your troubles as you look out onto the Etosha Pan! There is also the choice between an indoor and an outdoor shower. If you choose the latter, you can wash with nature all around and the sounds of Namibian wildlife in your ears! The chalets have been built on raised wooden decks – this offers some privacy, while providing incredible views from wherever you are seated.
The Etosha Pan and surrounding areas are glorious merely to look at, but at Onkoshi Camp you are invited to spend time learning more about the salt plains as you journey through them on a variety of activities. These include game drives by day and by night, as well as walking safaris. You can witness nature’s big beasts in close up, from blue wildebeest to elephant, leopard, giraffe, lion, and rhino! Guided day and moonlight walks on the Etosha Pan itself are also a popular option. The best part about Onkoshi Camp, however, is its position in a prime and secluded area of Etosha National Park. Some areas around the premises of the Camp are only accessible via permit, which usually results in those guests staying at Onkoshi. This is an incredible opportunity to see parts of the National Park that no one else ever gets to experience – and with no possibility of running into other tourists along the way, as you will be the only people there! Whichever activity you choose, you can be sure of some fantastic photo opportunities and a truly thrilling time.
