When To Visit Lewa-Borana Landscape:

Lewa Wilderness Lodge overlooks the far Western Marania Valley and springs.

Lewa was initially set up as a tented camp in 1972. These days, it provides a very friendly environment and a high standard of comfort within the ornamental stone lodges. This is a family-friendly setting, making you feel right at home! It is also fantastic for couples seeking privacy. This lodge is ideal for those seeking a vast variety of activities within a friendly and rustic setting. Top marks from YZ!

Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is a large private reserve with a real focus on an array of conservation projects, situated just 45km from Africa’s second-highest mountain!

Lewa’s communal area consists of a handsome group of buildings. The main house boasts the library and billiards room, perfect for unwinding after a long day of game viewing. It also has a charming veranda overlooking lush green lawns, ideal for afternoon tea. The lounge area, with luxurious antique furnishings, is within a separate building. This has its own stargazing deck!

Each of the nine cottages is unique in style. The three garden cottages are situated within the grounds, while the recently refurbished hillside cottages overlook Lewa’s beautiful Marania Valley. All rooms have rustic stone walls and floors, with wooden furnishings and woven carpets. They contain two en-suite bedrooms apiece and share a lounge area.

  • Lewa Wilderness prides itself on spectacular game-viewing opportunities.
  • There are a lot of activities available at the lodge too, as it has a tennis court, a pool, and nearby stables, which provide horseback safaris suitable for both beginners and more experienced riders.
  • Village visits are also possible, providing opportunities for guests to interact with locals.
  • And guided walks and game flights present perfect ways to enjoy an alternative safari experience.
