"Kaskaz Mara is Nasikia's northern Serengeti camp and is a great option for clients wanting the style of a mobile camp from a more permanent lodge. Fantastic views over the plains from this camp... love it!"

OVERVIEW:

At YZ, we reckon Kaskaz is a superb addition to the Nasikia portfolio. This camp has a phenomenal setting looking over a vast plain and huge rooms! Its location is perfect for a Serengeti safari – and we love those stylish supersize tents.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

Located just a short drive from Kogatende Airstrip, Kaskaz is set in the northern region of the Serengeti near to the Mara River.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT KASKAZ MARA CAMP:

The main areas at Kaskaz Mara are housed in one large mess tent. The lounge contains an assortment of comfortable sofas and armchairs – and there is even a fireplace, ideal for the chillier nights! The dining tent has a couple of large wooden tables surrounded by upright chairs. The style overall is authentic Africa, with a palette combining earthy tones and splashes of color. Guests can also dine outdoors, for breakfast, lunch or dinner – at night, lanterns are hung from trees, which lends a charming ambience!

The guest accommodation at Kaskaz Mara consists of eight tented suites. These are very spacious and comfortable. Each has a veranda with a table, cushioned seating, a hammock, and amazing views over the Serengeti’s rolling plains! Inside, there is an oversize double bed or twin beds, a sumptuous lounge area, a writing desk and chair, and ample storage space. Each en-suite boasts flush toilet, double washbasins, and luxurious shower. The tents have a very pleasant breezy feel, as they have large netted windows with cotton curtains, allowing plenty of fresh air to waft through. Each can be configured according to guest requirements – from family holiday to romantic honeymoon, and everything in between!

ACTIVITIES AT KASKAZ MARA CAMP:

Kaskaz Mara Camp offers excellent activities, with a focus on viewing the wildlife:

  • Expertly guided game drives

    - Game drives in the central Serengeti are available twice daily – this is a great opportunity to check out the locals, such as all Big Five plus cheetah, caracal, serval, giraffe, zebra, antelopes, monkeys, olive baboon, pangolin, porcupine, and many more!
  • Great Wildebeest Migration

    - From July to October, this region plays host to the famous Great Migration, when huge herds of wildebeest and other herbivores hurtle across the Mara River in search of grazing sites.
  • Hot air balloon safaris

    - Kaskaz Mara provides hot air balloon safaris. These begin at 6:00am and include a champagne breakfast following a two-hour flight – there is an extra cost for this activity, but it is well worth it to experience the Serengeti from up high!
  • Children at Kaskaz

    - The quality of guiding from camp really elevates all activities, as the guides are very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. They communicate well with adults and children alike – children aged 6 years and older are welcome at Kaskaz Mara, and during the low season a private safari vehicle for families of at least four persons is guaranteed!

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.

The service was FANTASTIC. Chris the manager went over and above to make sure everyone felt welcomed and looked after. All the staff were very attentive! My guide Mohammad was incredibly knowledgeable and knew the Serengeti very well and made sure I got to see all the animals I wanted to see. Definitely an extraordinary guide!

A wonderful camp. We were greeted upon arrival by the camp staff singing to us! Drinks followed and we were shown to our rooms. Unbelievable numbers of Wildebeest and Zebra, gazelles, antelope on the Serengeti. Kareem, our Safari guide took us all over the Serengeti, he was a top notch guide. We were privileged to see leopard, cheetah with 3 cubs, lions mating and 2 sister lionesses each with 3 cubs. It was amazing! Staff prepared wonderful meals for us, we ate in the bush too. Our balloon ride over the Serengeti was so wonderful and peaceful. We saw so many elephants and giraffe. A great experience!

Chris the manager and his team are just excellent. The tent has lots of luxuries you wouldn't think you were in the middle of the Serengeti. Food was plentiful, delicious and vegetarians very well catered for. I have not hesitation in recommending this camp.

Kaskaz Camp was so inviting, warm, and friendly. I fell in love with the team at this camp. It was so humbling to meet these people. We in the United States could learn some important lessons from them.

If there were 10 stars I would give them to the Simba boys! Hands down the best camp we have ever stayed in. The view on arrival literally takes your breath away. The whole experience of being in a tented camp is unforgettable, from the views, the animal noises at night, bush TV, the early mornings, the sunsets, amazing food that they were able to create, the sense of belonging to their little family and of course the amazing sights we saw on the drives with Abu who is the Legend of the Serengeti. Words can't describe this adequately but I'd go back in a heartbeat. Just go you won't regret it.

Nice place. Great food and service. But, it was a long way from the airport, the crossings, and where the animals were. So lots of extra time driving each day.

Wonderful luxury camping in the North Serengeti. You do not know you are camping at all! The camp fits into the scenery quite nicely and the view is breathtaking. The wildlife viewing in the Northern Serengeti is unbelievable and the guides from the camp know where the animals are at any time of the day. The food is very creative and quite tasty. It is well worth spending time at Kaskaz Mara, being off the beaten path really gives you the true African Experience!
