ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
A warm welcome awaits at the guest house! The buildings are contemporary in design and set within lovely gardens. Other communal areas include a lounge and a dining terrace. The lounge features comfortable seating, coffee tables, and a satellite television. It flows out onto the dining terrace, which is set with chic separate tables and chairs. Guests can enjoy gorgeous views of the gardens while tucking into delicious meals! The restaurant provides breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner, and serves African, Indian, and grill/BBQ options. There’s freshly baked bread, complimentary teas and coffees, and even a cocktail hour! Although there is no spa on site, a range of in-room massages may be requested. And Wi-Fi is available throughout the communal spaces, free of charge.
Guest accommodation at Papyrus consists of nine rooms in total – six standard rooms and three garden rooms. The garden rooms are more secluded, ideal for couples seeking a little extra privacy. Each room is individually styled and named after a gorilla family in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest! Single, twin, double, and triple rooms are available, with baby cots brought in on request. All rooms are pleasantly furnished and include a fan, mosquito nets, a safe, and an en-suite shower room with 24-hour hot running water and free toiletries. A hairdryer may be borrowed from reception. Garden rooms benefit from a private veranda too.
Once you are ready to explore, you need only pop to Papyrus’ tour desk – here, staff members are happy to help you plan your time in Entebbe. Lake Victoria is a short drive from the guest house and well worth a visit. Considered the greatest of all Africa’s Great Lakes, it is home to a wealth of mammals, reptiles, and birds, with highlights such as marsh mongoose, helmeted turtle, and papyrus canary! Entebbe’s botanical gardens, adjacent to the lake, are also a treat for wildlife lovers – you can look out for black-and-white colobus monkey, Marabou stork, and hornbill. Throughout the year, the gardens host various events – for example, music festivals and nature walks. We recommend the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre too, as well as the Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the Mabamba Swamps, and the local snake park. Entebbe also has a great golf course and an excellent assortment of bars, cafés, restaurant, and shops – there really is plenty to do here!
However you decide to spend your time in and around the city, you are guaranteed a comfortable base camp in which to relax between activities. All staff members are friendly and helpful, keen to ensure you get the best out of your stay. The accommodation is booked on a B&B basis, including a full English or Irish breakfast, parking, airport pick-ups and drop-offs, boarding pass printing service, Wi-Fi throughout the communal areas, one bottle of water daily, and toiletries – shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
