ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
Its communal spaces are found in a restored 1920s mansion and include a number of comfortable lounge areas, a restaurant, and a bar. There are plenty of well-cushioned sofas and armchairs positioned around coffee tables, with views out to the beautiful grounds. The restaurant, Fez Brassere, contains elegant furnishings, in addition to intriguing artefacts such as masks that seem to watch over you while you tuck into delicious meals. There is also a well-stocked bar, and a spa offering a range of massages, a steam room, and a sauna. The gift shop – Mehmet Shop, recalling Emin Pasha’s first name – sells fine art, crafts, clothes and accessories, and antiques. It is fun to browse all the collections, and to buy a few souvenirs. You can also while away a few happy hours in the hotel’s grounds, which has mature trees, colourful shrubberies, fragrant vines, and a sparkling swimming pool.
Guest accommodation at Emin Pasha Hotel consists of 20 rooms and suites in four categories – Superior Room, Garden Room, Superior Suite, and Garden Suite. All are exquisitely furnished in a chic contemporary style, with everything you could desire for a comfortable stay. Each room option includes air conditioning, mosquito nets, direct dial telephone, flatscreen television, coffee-making facilities, mini-bar, two free bottles of mineral water, and en-suite flush toilet, washbasin, and either tropical shower or big bathtub. The Superior Rooms are found on the upper level of the hotel, whereas the Garden Rooms are on the ground floor and benefit from a small patio. The Superior Suites are also on the upper floor, while the Garden Suites are at ground level. These two categories provide all the amenities of the room options, in addition to a lounge area. Their en-suite facilities comprise separate WC, washbasin, and both tropical shower and claw-foot bathtub.
Emin Pasha is perfectly positioned for guests to explore Kampala. Many of the city’s hills are topped by a building of religious interest, such as the Kasubi tombs, the Kibuli mosque, and the Rubaga Catholic Cathedral. If you head down into the city streets, you will encounter shopping centres, restaurants, bars, and cafés, as well as the city’s most famous attractions – the Uganda Museum, the Uganda National Theatre, and the markets of Nakasero and Saint Balikuddembe. There are sports arenas too, and a thriving nightlife. Kampala is a very vibrant place to be.
